Buckley Lab In Antarctica 2010. Wednesday, November 3, 2010. Here's a series of clips showing our drilling operation. Amanda and Isaac are using a "jiffy" drill. Watch when they pull the drill out and you can get a sense of the thickness of the ice. The feature behind them is Inaccessible Island. We've caught the bulk of our fish at this site, including five different species. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. The season is winding down, as the sea ice is star.

Buckley Lab In Antarctica 2010. Sunday, October 31, 2010. The sun has been shining and we've been out fishing 4-5 days a week. This is one of our exposure tanks. We heat this tank to our experimental temperatures and hold the fish at those temperatures for varying durations. The idea is to get a handle on what the effects of sub-lethal heat stress are on a physiological level. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Buckley Lab in Antarctica 2011
Buckley Lab in Antarctica 2011. Welcome to this year's blog detailing our field season at McMurdo Station, Antarctica! Wednesday, December 7, 2011. Full on labwork time! Fishing operations are over, as the conditions of the sea ice have rapidly deteriorated, and traversing cracks and soft ice becomes dangerous. We have been working full-time in the lab, sampling and treating the fish that have filled our tanks. Here's a little more of an scientific explanation of what we do at this point:. Here is a link.
