Chickasaw Bluffing: Visiting Whitehaven on the King's Birthday
http://chickasawbluffing.blogspot.com/2008/01/visiting-whitehaven-on-kings-birthday.html
Tuesday, January 8, 2008. Visiting Whitehaven on the King's Birthday. Ve spent part of the last two days traveling around Whitehaven. I think it's a fascinating area of the city, and far less blighted than its reputation in certain quarters. I tend to think that this neighborhood is a good gauge for the city as a whole in the future. Also of interest might be this. Discussion from the Smart City Memphis blog last May. At any rate, here are some pictures from my wanderings yesterday. The area just west of...
Chickasaw Bluffing: Crosstown Development Layout
http://chickasawbluffing.blogspot.com/2008/01/crosstown-development-layout.html
Thursday, January 17, 2008. I'm excited about this. For more, click here. I'm excited to be getting a Target or some bad ass store like Ikea. But I feel sorry for the poor people who are being forced out of their homes in that neighborhood to make way for development. It seems to go against the Midtown way. January 28, 2008 at 8:36 AM. I'm hopeful that this new Crosstown development and whatever happens with the Sears building will preserve some of the area's diversity. I hope that the people Andy Ca...

http://chickasawbluffing.blogspot.com/2008/05/barbecue-nachos.html
Thursday, May 1, 2008. Is this from a recent success or an ancient one? Rarely do I salivate so while online. May 3, 2008 at 4:45 PM. I found the picture online. It's not mine. I take no credit. May 5, 2008 at 3:22 PM. May 6, 2008 at 10:30 AM. The perfect combination of foods.painstakingly, even lovingly, slow smoked pork with processed cheese product. May 6, 2008 at 11:19 AM. Chickasaw Bluffing: June 2007
http://chickasawbluffing.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 29, 2007. The Tree of Heaven. Tuesday, June 19, 2007. There are other people who do this very well. Many of them are listed to the right. I am not personally acquainted with any of them, though the work they've done provides something of a template for where I hope to take this. To the extent that what I write or post here complements their efforts, I will consider this time well spent. For those who remain, let me commend my home to you. For a few brief weeks, its explosion of azaleas c...

Thursday, February 26, 2009. Here was the 4th photo in the 4th folder within the 4th folder (it's no longer in that spot since the re-organization). I love this picture! Our friend Gabby use to come over quite frequently to help me out with the munchkins a few years ago. WE MISS GABBY! And, quite frankly, I need her more than ever! Let's see I'll tag Erin ( www.whenwefast.blogspot.com. Holly ( www.algoods.blogspot.com. Elizabeth C. ( www.digitalcamerons.blogspot.com. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Tennessee Williams: June 2008
http://memphistennesseewilliams.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 20, 2008. So, it's been a few weeks since I updated . . . lots of work going on, but mostly things that don't make very nice pictures. Plumbing and stuff. I'll tell you, though, a new roof makes a WORLD of difference! We've been out of town for about a week on vacation, so I'll post some on that later today. Wednesday, June 4, 2008. Alternate title: A can of worms). So, demolition started Sunday! There’s definitely no going back now! All little bumps that have solutions, so no worries! Micha...

The Tennessee Williams: January 2009
http://memphistennesseewilliams.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 19, 2009. Saturday Morning Sugar Rush. The kids love this place because of the decor (and the donuts, of course). There are flying cows and pigs hanging from the ceiling, and a vibrant green monkey that screams and dances if you squeeze his hand. All five of us are completely satisfied (Mary Wren possibly too satisfied) for under $7. You can't beat that! I took pictures on Saturday:. Just getting started . . . Getting into a rhythm . . . Full blown sugar rush! Kids on the slide. It was a ...
In The Bluff (the blog): One Wall at a Time
http://inthebluff.blogspot.com/2009/04/one-wall-at-time.html
In The Bluff (the blog). Thursday, April 2, 2009. One Wall at a Time. When UrbanArt executive director John Weeden spoke at last month's Urbanexus event, sponsored by Next American City. Magazine, he talked about how they were going to be "painting the town, literally.". Visitors to Memphis see a crumbling and ugly landscape. That has to change," Weeden said. "I'm declaring war on ugly landscape.". This just might have me detouring down Madison. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.
In The Bluff (the blog): Dear John
http://inthebluff.blogspot.com/2009/04/dear-john.html
In The Bluff (the blog). Friday, April 17, 2009. I don't know quite how to say this. You were my first blog and you taught me a lot: how to make links and moderate comments, how to do a blogroll, how to tag subjects and search my archives. And it was all great. But I'm sorry; I have to move on. We had a good run of it, almost a full year. And I'll never forget you and how user-friendly you are! But I've met someone else. Someone a little closer to home. If you need me, you know you can always find me here.
In The Bluff (the blog): I Wish This Was Here.
http://inthebluff.blogspot.com/2010/12/i-wish-this-was-here.html
In The Bluff (the blog). Thursday, December 2, 2010. I Wish This Was Here. I love this project. Artist and urban planner Candy Chang had stickers printed up that say "I wish this was ." Then she distributed for free in cafes, bookstores, bars, and beauty shops:. Chang says she likes to make cities more comfortable for people, which I think is a pretty great goal. And the results are exactly what you'd expect: hopeful, inspiring, funny. December 2, 2010 at 1:34 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
In The Bluff (the blog): Test Drive a Scion, Drink Coffee, Support UrbanArt
http://inthebluff.blogspot.com/2009/04/test-drive-scion-drink-coffee-support.html
In The Bluff (the blog). Tuesday, April 14, 2009. Test Drive a Scion, Drink Coffee, Support UrbanArt. Morning, sleepy heads. I would have mentioned this earlier, but I was unfortunately delayed by a blockwide power outage here at beautiful sunny 460 Tennessee Street. Phones were down, people were cussing, and those brave souls venturing into out already cavernous restrooms had to use their cell phones to illuminate the way. And his feelings about the transformative power of murals. RuthI recently came ac...
In The Bluff (the blog): Door Dash Deadline — Today!
http://inthebluff.blogspot.com/2009/04/door-dash-deadline-today.html
In The Bluff (the blog). Thursday, April 16, 2009. Door Dash Deadline — Today! Memphis Heritage executive director June West has been floored by the response to the group's first Adapt A Door design challenge. She expected they would have maybe 15 or 20 architects and interior designers sign up, but more than 70 groups or families have already registered. The participants will recreate the old doors into whatever they want, and the results will be auctioned off in August. In The Bluff is a weekly column ...
In The Bluff (the blog): United We Planned
http://inthebluff.blogspot.com/2009/04/united-we-planned.html
In The Bluff (the blog). Wednesday, April 15, 2009. My friends over at the Coalition for Livable Communities. Wanted me to mention their upcoming Pizza with the Planners event on April 23rd. The latest in a series of conversations with city and county planners, this Pizza with the Planners will talk about the new Unified Development Code, currently under consideration. I think it's pretty important. Here's an excerpt from one of my recent columns on the subject:. To read the entire column, click here.
