Many of our club member scopes are hand crafted by the owners. This produces a telescope of high quality and better optics that can be found in commercial telescopes. Richard Bohner shows off his Celestron 152mm refractor. Karen, the First Lady of the Club, looks through her 6 inch reflector made by the late optician Pierre Schwar. J D's 11 incher is in the background. Fred (standing) has a serious discussion with Milt (seated) on the resolution of his 14 inch telescope. Milt with his huge TEC refractor.

Blah Blah Blog: February 2009
http://kathleenw-blahblahblog.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 21, 2009. So, it has taken me two weeks of hard work, but I finished (stage 1) of my prints today. Just felt a need to say, "Arghh! For Christmas my mother bought me the electrical connection from my home made exposure machine to the circuit box and it works so well. I'm pretty pumped. Wednesday, February 11, 2009. On the flip side I realized the other day that I have passed my first prognostic mark. The first life expectancy deadline was 18 months! On the strange side when I was readi...

Blah Blah Blog: August 2008
http://kathleenw-blahblahblog.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 9, 2008. It's time for an update, any update. I am in hot and steamy, despite the bad draught, Atlanta, GA. Mom and Dad had a car accident and we decided it would be best for me to come here and finish packing the house to prepare them for their move to the retirement duplex. I think my asthma meds alone will reach the one million cap in a few years (joke). So we've been wrapping our heads around all this, trying to figure out what to do. Is there anything we CAN do? Claire and I have cl...

Au revoir, not good-bye. October 6th, 2012. I have been doing this for so long, I can barely remember the person I was before I started writing about CLL, back in 2002. It has been a pretty wild ride! I would like to think. This is just a “so long” and not a “good-bye”. Before you freak out, I want to make sure you understand we are. Not (repeat, not). Shutting down the websites. And Harvey’s Journal. Websites will continue to be hosted and available. You know who you are! You are not just “members...

Time to say good-bye. June 23rd, 2013. All things come to an end. My “sabbatical” has ended, it has now become full fledged retirement. Today is a particularly poignant day for me to say my farewells to all of you. It has been exactly five years since my husband PC died. I have tried to document his transplant journey. For those of you who might find it interesting or helpful in your own future travels. Several months ago I read a book titled Year of magical thinking. One of my reasons for walking away f...

Sumo, ergo bloggum (delta). November 27, 2006. Dell Computer – Defective USB Ports – Update. 8212; Rob @ 6:07 pm. So I took a different tack and installed a board with 5 USB ports on it (this took less than one minute) and, presto! I now have 5 new working USB ports (Yea! In the rear of my computer despite the fact that 6 of the original 8 USB ports are still. The really good news is that I can now use my multi-card reader to upload photos from my digital camera to my computer. Still, the 6. Photo Manipu...

Musings of a Lymphomaniac. My Journey with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia/Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma. Friday, February 1, 2013. A fork in the road of my SLL/CLL journey. Example - Not My Toe :-). No, lets face it, as a middle-aged male of northern-European ancestry with fair skin, light eyes, numerous freckles, irregular moles; and topped off with SLL/CLL, I fear that if you look up the definition of "skin cancer" in a dictionary you'll find my photo! The main event for the day was my quarterly appointment...

Musings of a Lymphomaniac. My Journey with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia/Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma. Wednesday, May 26, 2010. The beginning of a new phase. Well, you may ask, how are you doing? My smart-ass response nowadays is "I still have a pulse"! Actually, I'm doing pretty well. Today was the first regular "check-up" appointment with my best friend the Oncologist; the beginning of the next phase in my "life with Lymphoma". What does the future hold? If you find out anything, let me know! National Ins...

Musings of a Lymphomaniac...: "As Good as it Gets..."

Musings of a Lymphomaniac. My Journey with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia/Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma. Thursday, October 30, 2014. As Good as it Gets.". Today I was reminded of a statement made to me by Dr. Kaplan nearly four years ago when I first transferred the care and feeding of my CLL/SLL to his clinic at UCSF - "You will never be any better than you are today". Kind of an ominous statement, but very true when heard in the context of living with CLL/SLL. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
