Where and what is Crown Point? It is the name for the crossroads at the centre of Denton, probably named after the British Victory in North America in 1759. Why is Haughton Green so called? Originally there were two towns side by side, Denton and Haughton, until they joined in 1894. There were Haughton, Haughton Dale,Lower Haughton and Haughton Green.Haughton was the area around St. Anne's Church. Where was 'the City'? Why is St. Lawrence's Church called 'th'owd peg'?
