The Mountain Legacy Project has over 4 Terabytes of digital images (both scans of glass plate negatives as well as repeat photographs) housed on servers at UVIC. Many Gigabytes worth of digital images are added annually through scans provided by Library and Archives Canada, and through the field work conducted annually. School of Environmental Studies. The Mountain Legacy Project is a long-term study of landscape, ecological and cultural change in the mountainous regions of western Canada. Based on the world's largest systematic collection of historical survey photographs ( 120,000), since 1996 field teams have been repeating historical images from exactly the same locations, and studying the sometimes dramatic changes over roughly a century.
