I think that it would be true to say that I ve spent more time fishing for these mischievous fish than any other. I fish for them nearly entirely at night. When fly fishing for salmon, there is an old rule of thumb; if the sun is shining and the river is clear, then lightly coloured flies will fish best, preferably with silver bodies. They are a very shy fish during the day, but they take on a new lease of life when darkness comes. I use a sink-tip line with either 2 or sometimes 3 flies (depending on wind).
