Footprints in Berlin: The Importance of Eating Kimchi

http://footprintsinberlin.blogspot.com/2011/02/importance-of-eating-kimchi.html

A Berlin-based restaurant blog with weekly reviews. February 04, 2011. The Importance of Eating Kimchi. Madang - Korean Food. 8221; I thought. Yes, I knew kimchi and I had always liked it. But does lack of kimchi automatically disqualify any other cuisine? Tiny pancakes and noodles. Tiny pancakes with five miniscule different vegetarian fillings and mustard sauce, 3.50 €) and the Chung mu Gimbab. Noodles made of sweet potatoes with vegetables and beef, 4.90 €) were very good and the Kimchijeon. With beef...

Footprints in Berlin: Berlin's Only Curry? A Birthday Post

http://footprintsinberlin.blogspot.com/2011/11/berlins-only-curry-birthday-post.html

A Berlin-based restaurant blog with weekly reviews. November 11, 2011. It did not take too much brooding to reach the conclusion that the most appropriate birthday gift to readers would be a recommendation about real curry in Berlin. Just to recap – curry in Berlin is. I come bearing the gift of the first edible curry in Berlin. But let’s not rush things. One step at a time. It all started with Sarah’s (who knows her curries) discovery of the Sri Lankan Sigiriya. Grünberger Straße 66, 10245. Thanks for t...

Footprints in Berlin: Curry Cravings No. 1: The Sri-Lankan Option

http://footprintsinberlin.blogspot.com/2011/03/curry-cravings-no-1-sri-lankan-option.html

A Berlin-based restaurant blog with weekly reviews. March 04, 2011. Curry Cravings No. 1: The Sri-Lankan Option. Chandra Kumari - Kreuzberg. A couple of months ago I was reprimanded for being negative. It was a dark mid-winter Berlin afternoon, so who wouldn’t be? Let me guess, you’re sitting in front of your iBook, frowning and calling me a food snob? Or the sweet Madras? Chandra Kumari - Originalküche aus Sri Lanka and Südindische Spezialitäten. Gneisenaustraße 4, 10961 Berlin. 24 June 2011 at 10:38.

Berlin: Metropolis of Vice | Eavesdropping Berlin

https://eavesdroppingberlin.wordpress.com/2012/02/21/berlin-metropolis-of-vice-berlin-in-the-1920s-and-1930s

Eavesdropping on all things Berlin related. Berlin: Metropolis of Vice. Documentary series of 3 programmes produced by the Canadian Public Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). The whole series looks at Paris, Berlin and Shanghai between the wars. Here the video for Berlin – a city notorious for all sorts of “sinful” (read debauch) behavior in the 20s. Somethings never change…. From the Youtube page: Berlin – Metropolis of Vice. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public).

The Dirty South in Berlin | Eavesdropping Berlin

https://eavesdroppingberlin.wordpress.com/2012/03/25/dirty-south-in-berlin

Eavesdropping on all things Berlin related. The Dirty South in Berlin. Is a new addition to the fast evolving American/ Tex-Mex. And somehow it works. The fitting music – good old blues and blue grass – was also a nice touch. Opened by the same people who started the Cupcake Berlin. Cafe across the street, this place seems to have been a labor of love. BBQ sauce, it was one of the best tacos I have eaten here in Berlin. The taco with kimchi was also a winner. Never thought I would see the day…) But...

Served Brut | Eavesdropping Berlin

https://eavesdroppingberlin.wordpress.com/2012/04/04/served-brut

Eavesdropping on all things Berlin related. One of the loveliest bars in Mitte has to be Brut. Situated in what was once SystM. On Torstrasse, Brut has transformed the space into a stylish gem of a bar. Upon opening last year, Brut quickly became my go-to bar. I go there because I know that the staff will always be welcoming, the lighting soft, the wine exceptional and the music good. It is a great place for a relaxed drink, after work, before the party or just because. And is great value for the price.

A drink at Würgeengel | Eavesdropping Berlin

https://eavesdroppingberlin.wordpress.com/2012/02/22/little-visit-to-wurgeengel

Eavesdropping on all things Berlin related. A drink at Würgeengel. Dresdener Straße, right next to the (notorious) Kottbusser Tor. Is fricking amazing. There are a bunch of great places all squished together on this tiny street. Within 80 meters, there is a cinema, a live jazz bar, a vodka bar, ottorink. Wine bar, an italian restaurant and a great cocktail bar called Würgeengel. Würgeengel has a touch of Berlin of the 20s (see previous post), but is at the same time pretty laid back. Open daily from 7pm.

Berlin Hotels: The Delightful | Eavesdropping Berlin

https://eavesdroppingberlin.wordpress.com/2012/02/20/31

Eavesdropping on all things Berlin related. Berlin Hotels: The Delightful. Here is the 3rd installment of 4-part Hotels in Berlin series. This post will focus on a small selection of charming boutique hotels. They may not as daring as The Unusual. Or as über-luxurious as The Swanky. But these are comfortable and endearing. If you are city-hopping, or if you happen to be one of those people who likes their hotels simple and to the point, then these hotels will likely do it for you. Is a beautiful, new-ish...

Dining Chez Gino | Eavesdropping Berlin

https://eavesdroppingberlin.wordpress.com/2012/04/23/dining-chez-gino

Eavesdropping on all things Berlin related. Is a strange name for a Swabian restaurant. But don’t worry, once you step inside this Kreuzberg eatery, the decor prepares you for the food you will be eating. It is textured floral wallpaper and wooden furniture. An alpine hut and a walk in the woods. My favorite touch has to be the forest wallpaper at the back. This last time I had something off their changing day menu, a white fish with jerusalem artichoke. Footprints in the Air – Thoughts on journeys, love, and the durability of faith

Footprints in the Air. Thoughts on journeys, love, and the durability of faith. Creating Myself to Freedom. When I was younger, my mom would always tell me to write when I felt confused or hurt or angry. She would say that once I could start putting everything inside of me into some language that made sense to me, that in the creation, I would start to understand myself more. I often think of this as ‘creating myself to freedom.’. February 12, 2018. February 12, 2018. Things that Interest Me. I don&#8217...

Footprints in Blood « Just Thinking Out Loud

Just Thinking Out Loud. Have you ever been sitting around watching television, reading a paper, or listening to the stereo and your mind began wandering and you suddenly recalled a trivial or even nonsensical memory? Today I was watching an old rerun of Laramie when that happened to me. In my case I guess it would be both of the aforementioned classifications. The house next to ours was approximately 50 yards away and the couple had five kids about my age, so we played outside nearly every day. As time w...

Foot Prints in Butter | Living and writing in the moment.

Living and writing in the moment. Foot Prints in Butter. A Reason to Write. I remember when I was at Uni we were asked. Why do you write? This was a question we were often asked by visiting lecturers. Each time I tried to improve my answer to this question as I was also growing and discovering all the reasons why I loved to write. One seminar our visiting lecturer, in his crisp clean white shirt, asked us this very same question. Why do you write? It makes me happy, I love telling stories, I. I revised m...

Looking Back and Forward. December 31, 2014. It has been awhile since I have had the chance to sit down, breath, and give an update on what has been taking up all my time this last year. This blog is where I will be posting and reflecting on my trip to Chikuni, Zambia and all the experiences I will be having over the next three months. BUT! First I want to review my past year for those I have not been able to catch up with for quite a while! Seeing Air Force 1 land when Pres. Obama came to Seattle. We ta...
