Jeanette Viviano has enjoyed sewing and art since she was a very young girl. She made her first quilt in 1978 and has taken many classes in quilting, design and art. A desire to work with a more diverse palette than found in commercially made fabric led Jeanette to the joy of hand dyeing. Jeanette's passion has expanded to manipulating fabric and experimenting with new techniques using color, texture and a fun, creative process. Please feel free to contact Jeanette. Feature in The Quilter's Catalog.

Tuesday, May 27, 2014. One of the art lessons that has made a lasting impression with me was an experience my dad had when he was in art school. He told me that after laboriously drawing the day's model, the instructor had all the students erase their work, turn it upside down, and start again. The moral of the story is not to think that your work is ever too precious for improvement. I have been working on this quilt on and (mostly off) for over a decade. The whole tale is on my blog. Add a few lines fr...

Friday, March 28, 2014. Here, back after falling down the winter's rabbit hole. I've been working on a few new things but mostly resting up, reading and drinking hot tea (and coffee). One of the things that I do in the warmer weather is to rust fabric and different fibers so that I have plenty to play with in the cooler months. I've been playing around with creating collages out of bits and pieces of rusted and naturally dyed fabric. The photo really does not do it justice. Tuesday, March 25, 2014. It se...

Monday, August 25, 2014. A picture is worth a thousand words, right? Last week I was in Oregon and attended a reception at a gallery. Where one of my Army Wife aprons was part of a group show. I shared my Army Wife portfolio with the curator, and she asked if the gallery could keep the portfolio for the duration of the show. Of course! It will be a great ambassador for my series. I also showed two other portfolios at lunch during a quilt show in Portland. Labels: art and life. Excellent idea, Kristin!

Wednesday, June 25, 2014. I have completed 11 painted and stitched canvases from the Service Star quilt in the previous post here! The curious can find them on my blog. I am happy to report that I feel no regret at painting and cutting up a decade's worth of work. I am also happy to report that I had the opportunity to visit friend and fellow 8 That Create artist, Natalya, last weekend. We had a great time in NYC with two of three from a special circle of friends. By Liz Kueneke at The Hudson Guild.
