Then he proceeded to cure us all. Then came Mr. Sumlin, tubes in his nost...

Except by this Stuff! Great Music, Mostly American, from Everywhere. Saturday, July 3, 2010. Thursday, July 1, 2010. Like a Fading Memory: Chuck Berry: Rock 'N' Roll Music, by Howard DeWitt. Three things that I absorbed:. First, I saw instantly that DeWitt and I lived lives that were somewhat parallel geographically. He lived in Seattle, then evidently moved south to Central California. http://cantbesat.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Except by this Stuff! Great Music, Mostly American, from Everywhere. Friday, May 25, 2012. Several of my all time favorite songs have a common denominator: a big bang climax. An obvious example is Otis Redding singing "Try a Little Tenderness," when words finally aren't enough and Otis spits out those wonderful sounds and syllables. You know the moment, but just in case, it's at 3:08. But maybe you don't know "Stand! Turns into a thudding bass riff that dominates the rest of the song. Birth of a New One.

Except by this Stuff! Great Music, Mostly American, from Everywhere. Sunday, October 2, 2011. Howlin' Wolf, Chuck Berry, and $ $. Once, while reading B. B. King’s autobiography, I wrote about similarities between King and Chuck Berry. There were a lot of them. (Read it HERE. Not quite so many between Berry and Wolf—but they exist. For example, while both men are renowned entertainers, hard working and happy to mug it up on stage, both are also known to be reserved off stage. 8221; Some of the comments ar...
