Bungalow 306: The Happy Room!
http://bungalow306.blogspot.com/2007/12/happy-room.html
Page about our first house, in central Illinois. Saturday, December 22, 2007. I had some ideas for the breakfast nook, where I make my coffee and do some reading for work in the mornings. The room also serves as additional counter space when we run big kitchen items like the mixer or crock-pot, and it's where the naughty cat. Can't help uploading another one. I too love cooking. Bungalow 306: Electricity Updates
http://bungalow306.blogspot.com/2007/11/electricity-updates.html
Page about our first house, in central Illinois. Monday, November 19, 2007. Though I should have been keeping current with the progress, I haven't so now I'm playing catch-up. We hired a local electrician to upgrade our service from 60 to 100 amps. That portion of the work went fairly well. But the house still needed rewiring to take advantage of the upgrade. Bungalow 306: Nook Gets a Curtain
http://bungalow306.blogspot.com/2007/12/nook-gets-curtain.html
Page about our first house, in central Illinois. Thursday, December 27, 2007. Nook Gets a Curtain. Not much in the way of news. But I did find the perfect fabric for a curtain in the nook (aka the happy room). It was a remnant at the fabric store. Here I just draped it over the existing curtain rod, until time allows me to make it a "real" curtain. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Things to do next year. Nook Gets a Curtain. Bungalow 306: Results of last night's village meeting

Page about our first house, in central Illinois. Thursday, December 6, 2007. Results of last night's village meeting. All in all, apart from not getting the position I wanted, it was a nice opportunity to meet some more people in town. (There's only 350 or so people here, so I met about 2% of the town last night). Bungalow 306: Garden Plans, Part I
http://bungalow306.blogspot.com/2008/03/garden-plans-part-i.html
Page about our first house, in central Illinois. Thursday, March 27, 2008. Garden Plans, Part I. I've got big plans for the garden. Vegetables: there's enough space for a relatively huge vegetable garden on the south side. I hope to plant two kinds of tomatoes, peppers (sweet and hot), onions, garlic, chives, pumpkins, lettuce, and some herbs. Mostly it'll save a little money at the grocery store, and hopefully allow us to make salsa whenever we feel like it. As long as the vegetables show up. We have a ...

Bungalow 306: Demise of the ancient Edison Water Heater
http://bungalow306.blogspot.com/2008/03/demise-of-ancient-edison-water-heater.html
Page about our first house, in central Illinois. Thursday, March 27, 2008. Demise of the ancient Edison Water Heater. It had to happen sooner or later. Our hot water heater started leaking. I suppose it could have been worse, exploding all at once instead of developing a relatively minor leak, but is there ever a good time to deal with a breaking down water heater? I didn't have to lift a finger, except for draining the old heater just to save the installer time. April 20, 2008 at 12:01 AM. And I invite ...

Bungalow 306: New baby!
http://bungalow306.blogspot.com/2007/11/new-baby.html
Page about our first house, in central Illinois. Monday, November 19, 2007. One reason for not updating the site in a a while. our new baby showed up! Little Vivian arrived on Halloween, a healthy 7 pounds. Everyone's doing fine, but we're all tired. Sorry trick-or-treaters - I bought candy to leave outside in a bowl, but in the commotion of the day's events, I forgot to leave it outside. We'll make it up to y'all next year! Bungalow 306: Electrical Progress. And curtains (again).
http://bungalow306.blogspot.com/2008/02/electrical-progress-and-curtains-again.html
Page about our first house, in central Illinois. Tuesday, February 19, 2008. Electrical Progress. And curtains (again). After a grueling weekend, more electrical rewiring work has been accomplished! We also have to track down some brown modular cable/phone/ethernet jacks (going to put 4 jacks in each single-gang spot). I figure we may as well wire up the house since we're already having so much fun. Close-up of the pattern. Groovy art nouveau! Tiny Oak Park Bungalow. February 28, 2008 at 1:35 PM. House o...
