Lifespan of a Chennette. Trini food enthusiast, traveling around the Caribbean, sharing my tales, meals and photos. Hops Bread with Cheese Paste. I have been trying to make my own bread more regularly, because the local bread in Guyana tends to be on the sweet side, and soft, never crusty. My mother’s hops bread recipe ( posted here by Lilandra. And previously blogged by me. And topped with sesame seeds. Always great when you’re toasting your bread the next day. The Sisterhood of the Sizzling Pans. These sizzlin’ sistas. Vegetarian Series: Aloo Jeera. March 21, 2013. Spicy, aromatic, simple! But to be able to replicate that authentic flavour and even aroma, in our own kitchen, no way! With Manjula’s help we were able to do just that! The kind folks at Manjula’s Kitchen. The distillery is located at the base of Dumgoyne Hill – a name that was not used in the Distillery name for obvious reasons 🙂. We enjoyed the rich taste of Glengoyne’s Scotch but wh...

The Sisterhood of the Sizzling Pans. These sizzlin’ sistas. Recipe #20: Crème Brûlée. October 13, 2012. Of all the recipes we’ve done this year, this one made me feel like a ‘real’ chef, so much so that I felt that a video was the only way to share how fun and easy it was to put the finishing touches on this dessert. Notice how the sugar melts slowly into a hard shell. I followed a recipe published by The Pioneer Woman. Egg yolks and 3/4 cup of sugar, I made more than 10 servings! This surprised me as I ...

The Sisterhood of the Sizzling Pans. These sizzlin’ sistas. Vegetarian Series – Quinoa Stuffed Acorn Squash Rings. June 29, 2013. A few months ago, I stumbled across a vegetarian dish that was quite inspiring : Quinoa Stuffed Acorn Squash Rings. Flavors : the sweet from the cranberries and sharpness of the cheese).
