Poppies and Daisies: January 2014
http://poppiesanddaisies.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 25, 2014. Now I can show you the finished project. It is another version of Gertie's Portrait Blouse. A little prim and proper, but will be sweet with jeans. The fabric is a piece of vintage cotton from Auntie Jenny's stash. Possibly Liberty. Gertie's original blouse has wee cap sleeves all-in-one with the bodice. I cut back the shoulders and drafted my own sleeves. I used darts instead of tucks to shape the front and lenghthened the blouse a fair bit. Saturday, January 18, 2014. I have...

Poppies and Daisies: November 2014
http://poppiesanddaisies.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 30, 2014. I'm out in the garden with Fergus and Mouse. We are prowling around the garden together. I pad pics are not up to par, but portability and instant blogging is fun. I've got to watch Fergus as he escaped yesterday and has no sense of keeping himself safe, unlike Mouse. Unfortunately the wee devil is very keen to go over the wall. The garden makes me so happy, even weedy and rampant. There are foxgloves taller than me. And just a few glorious blue delphiniums. Yesterday we went o...

Poppies and Daisies: July 2014
http://poppiesanddaisies.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 27, 2014. We are trying to get the front garden under control. Johnny pruned a big rose bush today, and did a great job. I'm hoping he'll help me with some more (hint hint). His dad was brilliant at pruning roses, and I think it might be hereditary. I'm having fortnightly 'cello lessons this term. I'm starting this week, but I have a sore little finger on my left hand, which is important for playing. I'm hoping it will be OK, but it didn't take kindly to gardening today. I planted several ro...

Poppies and Daisies: December 2014
http://poppiesanddaisies.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 21, 2014. We have had a very busy weekend for visitors. Last night I got an urge to practise my domestic goddess skills and looked up a simple shortbread recipe. This morning I baked. Delia Smith's shortbread with my touch - dried cranberries and chocolate chips. The biscuits were tricky little beasts to cut as the cranberries made the edges crumble. They turned out just fine though. While they were baking I picked some raspberries to make muffins. Thursday, December 18, 2014. The raspbe...

Poppies and Daisies: April 2014
http://poppiesanddaisies.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 29, 2014. It has been a very wet day here today. Cold too, and we lit the fire this afternoon. I had to go out this morning, and never would have left the house if it wasn't necessary. There has been a lot of flooding around the city again. I haven't achieved a lot today. I did make the Suffolk Puff for the middle of my Dresden Plate. Firstly I cut a circle of fabric then folded in a small edge and tacked it down using doubled thread. It still looks sweet on the petals. We went on an exped...

Poppies and Daisies: Holidays
http://poppiesanddaisies.blogspot.com/2014/12/holidays.html
Thursday, December 18, 2014. The Christmas holidays have begun. I couldn't be happier! My afternoon was spoiled by the arrival of The Headache of Doom. Blerk. Never mind, I pressed on and managed to cut out another dress. Look at the fabric I found:. Fergus likes it and slept on it. I think he imagines me in mohair. The print reminds me of my glorious roses. The garden has lots of treasures everywhere. There are two huge cabbages ready. Coleslaw, anyone? Shame the carrots are barely an inch high! I work ...

Poppies and Daisies: February 2014
http://poppiesanddaisies.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 23, 2014. I was so proud of myself for being brave enough to give it a go. And even though I felt so anxious I wanted to throw up when we first started, I loved it and hope to go again. Thursday, February 20, 2014. Oh dear, the light isn't too good, but it looked glorious in real life. I'll have to do a morning photo shoot so that you can see how fabulous it looks in its entirety. Lime green sashing and binding. Who would have thought it would be so brilliant? Sunday, February 16, 2014.

Poppies and Daisies: December 2013
http://poppiesanddaisies.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 22, 2013. At last the school year is over and parents groan while teachers sigh with relief. Yes teachers do get a lot of holidays, but I am positive that without them many teachers would find work elsewhere. I would. I am delighted to be able to shut off the constant school thoughts (well sort of - there is planning for next year to consider), and move onto home jobs. The roses are kicking into action again. Look - the first courgettes are ready. Sunday, December 15, 2013. You will have...

Poppies and Daisies: Kindness
http://poppiesanddaisies.blogspot.com/2014/12/kindness.html
Saturday, December 6, 2014. I live very close to one of my dearest friends too. We enjoy cups of coffee (tea for me), grizzles, inspiration, commiseration, and shared interests. I feel so lucky to have her! Then there's my dear family. Saturday morning chats with my dear mummy. Messaging the family on the I-pad. Fun times together. I wish we were closer, but get-togethers are big celebrations. Most importantly, I live with my best friend, who is incredibly kind and the best husband ever. Out for a walk.
