One of my newer clients, Amaco Construction Equipment Inc., recently exhibited at the National Heavy Equipment Show, April 18 and 19, 2013, at The International Centre in Mississauga. I was offered a show pass to come check out the booth graphics I designed, take a few pics and explore the show floor. Wandering through the show aisles, I discovered and talked with many fine people, including:. The Amaco booth graphics I designed comprises of six 10’ wide displays, mounted to metal poles 10’ in the air an...

Century 21 Vehicle Wrap. Nice portfolio, but I'm not seeing any vehicle wraps.". This was an actual quote a nameless recruiter said to me this past summer. At first, this comment made me feel totally innadequate and full of shame, despite my many career successes. But I was determined to not let this get me down. Cuz while I love cars and graphics with equal passion, I just never had any opportunities come up to design a vehicle wrap. And how do we get opportunities to do things we've never done before?

Marketing Impact Mini Catalogue. I was recently brought in to create an emergency, super-rush project; a 16-page mini catalogue for an upcoming trade show. On my first day, I was seated in a large, open-concept studio, next to what I thought was a ridiculously-oversized coffee vending machine. It kept buzzing away all day without letting up for a single moment. The vending machine buzzed away. With a couple changes to the mockup, I finally jumped on the computer. I must admit, the source files were i...

The Jolly Rogers band branding. Back in 2005, The Jolly Rogers were Hamilton's hottest ska-punk sound. So when it came time for the band to record their first studio album, I jumped at the opportunity to create the artwork for it. First, band member Tyler presented me with his kickass logo concept combining a skull, guitar and trombone. I refined the design and created a suitably playful and evocative wordmark to complement it. Here's the 3-colour CD label and inner cover sleeve with the album lyrics.

Hey Mom, I finally made it onto the big screen. Sort of. I was concerned that a matte box is too obscure an icon for the average person to decode, and too complex a shape to function as part of a logo. AJ assured me that this logo is targetted towards film industry pros who are familiar with all the tricks of the trade. So I started with the mate box, even though I still had doubts that it could work. I started off with the matte box, trying a few things with and without an iris. Then again, maybe not.
