Kris on family, backpacking, travel and anything else. Monday, July 19, 2010. Grand Canyon Rim to Rim Day 4. Up at 3:30 as planned and on the trail by 4 with the headlamps on. Clear dark morning with not a cloud in the sky, yet not much moonlight. What can I say, the scenery continued to be amazing but this is a steep, hot, long slog up and out of the canyon. Kris on family, backpacking, travel and anything else. Wednesday, July 21, 2010. My Homemade Down Quilt Project. So a couple months ago I ordered all of the fabric I needed for my backpacking quilt. With the help of some really good Chinese white goose down through work, I had all the materials to build a homemade 3 season down quilt. Well with the amazing sewing skills and help of my mother in law we finished and it turned out awesome. I ended up overfilling it a little to the final weight was 19oz.
