Dispatches from the land of the banana slug. Friday, July 9, 2010. Handsome fella, Green Lake. Making noise from a cottonwood tree. And keeping tabs on who makes noise back. Ohanapecosh, Mount Rainier National Park. We went camping at Ohanapecosh Campground at Mount Rainier National Park last weekend, far far away in that era when we were complaining about how summer was taking its time arriving. nature geek northwest: Back yard visitors

http://naturegeeknw.blogspot.com/2013/02/back-yard-visitors.html

Dispatches from the land of the banana slug. Tuesday, February 26, 2013. A pair of western scrub-jays. Other birds come and go, chiefly black-capped chickadees and juncos. There's a flicker or a towhee from time to time, white-crowned and golden-crowned sparrows, Anna's hummingbirds, robins and roving flocks of bushtits or house sparrows. Today the Boinks had new visitors: a pair of Steller's jays. That got the scrub jays' attention. It's a young sharp-shinned hawk. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Dispatches from the land of the banana slug. Sunday, May 1, 2016. I found several of these roving on California poppies in my yard. Some kind of sweat bee? Monday, April 25, 2016. Rounding a curve in a trail in Magnuson Park, I noticed a pair of withered willow leaves that seemed strangely symmetrical. On closer inspection, they weren't leaves at all.
