Recipe for the Guyana Manhattan, a rum variation » Cocktail adventures at Oh Gosh!
http://ohgo.sh/archive/guyana-manhattan-recipe
October 21st, 2008. I’m far too indecisive for that. Right now the colder autumn nights are creeping in, I’m fighting a loosing battle against a serious case of man flu. And I’m getting itchy feet after my summer galavanting around America and Europe. Tonight I’m in definite need of a warm, cozy drink to brush away these autumn blues and wrap its comforting arms around me, and thankfully I came across just the trick last month whilst at BCB. El Dorado 12-year-old rum. 1 dash Angostura Aromatic Bitters.
The original recipe for the Aviation cocktail » Cocktail adventures at Oh Gosh!
http://ohgo.sh/archive/the-original-aviation
August 15th, 2007. Since I first tried the Aviation. It has rapidly become one of my favourite cocktails. I love the subtle cherry flavour the Maraschino provides, and the way the flavours balance to create such a crisp, enjoyable drink. However, I’ve always longed to make one using the original recipe. But couldn’t because I didn’t have any Crème de Violette. Crème de Violette is a deep lavender coloured liqueur that uses Violet flowers to obtain its rather unique taste. Think Parma Violets. 8211; Recip...
The Great Oh Gosh! Orange Liqueur Showdown Awards » Cocktail adventures at Oh Gosh!
http://ohgo.sh/archive/orange-liqueur-awards
June 3rd, 2008. So after several months, 23 different spirits and countless cocktails, what has my orange liqueur odyssey taught me? Well firstly that trying so many cocktails and liqueurs isn’t nearly as much fun as it sounds. I love Margaritas. As much as the next cocktail nerd. But I also love variety and after trying so many different variations on the same theme I did find myself tiring. So what do you do if a cocktail recipe calls for curaçao? Orange Liqueur Showdown Awards. The following liqueurs ...
Trinidad Sour and Stormy Mai Tai cocktail recipes by Giuseppe Gonzalez » Cocktail adventures at Oh Gosh!

This is starting to get silly…. This is starting to get silly…. November 13th, 2009. Looking back at the Ri.Pa Deuxième. Got me thinking about Valentino’s other bitters heavy drink, the Trinidad Especial. Using a full ounce of Angostura bitters the drink amazed me with its balance, and while it may seem perverse to be considering such Angostura heavy drinks in the middle of a worldwide shortage. Reports are the bitters are back in production so I can’t think of any better way to celebrate that fact!
Forgotten Flavours Swedish Punch and Falernum » Cocktail adventures at Oh Gosh!
http://ohgo.sh/archive/forgotten-flavours-cocktail-ingredients
October 12th, 2008. Once you start getting in to cocktails, it doesn’t usually take too long before you come across an ingredient you can’t easily get hold of. Whether it’s an unusual syrup that isn’t commercially made, an old liqueur that isn’t available anymore, or a brand new ingredient created by an inventive bartender, sooner of later you will have to start making your own ingredients. Is a perfect example of this. Which marries it with gin and Peychaud’s bitters to create a complex yet refres...

Ginuary 28th: Sloe Gin Fizz. @ Ginuary
http://ginuary.com/2015/01/ginuary-28th-sloe-gin-fizz.html
Ginuary 28th: Sloe Gin Fizz. Since acquiring some sloe gin earlier this month, all I’ve done is make a ridiculously delicious dessert. With it, so tonight I thought it time I address a classic, while also giving a quick educational spiel on sloe gin. Shrubs. They’re a relative of plums, but the berries are a lot smaller and in the same way that cumquats are the smaller, tarter cousin of mandarins, so are sloes to plums. That’s my analogy and I’m sticking to it. 60ml sloe gin (I used McHenry Old English.

Drink A Week: February 2009
http://drinkaweek.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 24, 2009. Look out, he's got a bar spoon! I started with pouring beer, and discovered the fucked up intricacies of pouring beer from a tap. I can hear Rob. Screaming as he reads that, as he has. Just as my shift was ending, I began to feel the slightest hints of a groove. I was having fun interacting with customers. I had gotten the hang of pouring a good beer, and I even got show my shaker face to a lucky few folks. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Subscribe in a reader.
Drink A Week: Old Fashioned Ode
http://drinkaweek.blogspot.com/2009/08/old-fashioned-ode.html
Friday, August 7, 2009. When I first moved to San Francisco, Rob. When I started getting serious about cocktails, it's no surprise that the Old Fashioned was one of the first drinks I really dug into. This drink is about as simple as it gets, yet the whole is truly more than the some of its parts. As I experimented with the drink, I eventually settled on the recipe that, for me, is perfection. 2 oz Rittenhouse Rye BIB. 1 cube white sugar. 2 dashes Angostura bitters. In an Old Fashioned (surprise! Cocktai...

The (Original) Hurricane Cocktail. May 08, 2010. The legendary Pat O’Brien’s Bar in the French Quarter, New Orleans. Opened its doors on December 3, 1933, two days before the end of Prohibition (well, ya had to have a coupla days to get ready). Their solution — create a drink to use up all this rum. After some tinkering they wound up with a powerful mixture of rum, passion fruit syrup and fresh lemon juice and created a taste sensation. Article on the history of the place. MxMo – Life’s Bitter pt. 3 | The Manhattan Project - Cocktails
https://manhattanprojectdrinks.wordpress.com/2010/08/31/mxmo-lifes-bitter-pt-3
The Manhattan Project – Cocktails. Mixing drink, drinking mixes. MxMo – Life’s Bitter pt. 3. This month’s Mixology Monday. Is hosted by Lindsey at Brown Bitter and Stirred. And the theme is… Brown, Bitter and Stirred. As a lover of spiritous drinks, aged liquor and bitters (potable or not), I couldn’t resist the opportunity to take my second foray into the MxMo crowd. The cocktail that first came to mind was the Fritz, a virtually unknown but masterful tipple crafted by bartender Ryan Lotz of Lineage.

Drink A Week: November 2008

Sunday, November 23, 2008. Book Review - Artisanal Cocktais. I'm a lazy bastard, how's it going? Remember how I was all talking about that Scott Beattie book signing. Then never took the time to write about it, or the book? Yeah, those were good times weren't they? To make it up to you, I'm going to go ahead and tell you all about it. I know that doesn't sound like I'm making up for anything, but rather performing my bloggerly duty, but that's just because you're wrong. I mean I love you. Which was thoug...
Drink A Week: May 2009
http://drinkaweek.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 20, 2009. A while back, We got an e-mail from a representative of Obesello Absinthe. It is so hard. I also wanted to give the Obesello a whirl in a cocktail to see how it would mix. My first thought was to try it in one of my favorites, the Sazerac. I decided that it might be more fun to try it out in something different, just for kicks. I ran on over to the always handy Cocktail DB. 5 oz Dry Vermouth. 25 oz Grand Marnier. Links to this post. Tuesday, May 5, 2009. One of the things I'm par...

Friday, January 23, 2009. Repeal Day II: The 'Recon Crew - Part 2. In a twist most nefarious, the folks at. Cantina teamed up with John Walker. For a Repeal Day extravaganza. They put together a special menu for the evening of $1 cocktails. As you might imagine, by the time Ed and I got there, the joint was jumping, but we were undaunted. Duggan McDonnell was manning the hosting position, while behind the bar upstairs co-owner Aaron Prentice, and Jordan Mackay. It was a grand (long) night, and a grand way...

Oh Gob, What Have I Done…. May 27, 2012. And calf stretches. And then, I took off the flannel, laid it on the ground (to double as a sitting towel–never leave home without a flannel, kids), and grabbed the bottom of my shirt. I took a deep breath and pulled it over my head. “Hey! This isn’t so bad! 8220;Oh, cool! People like the sun! And all hell was breaking loose. All my fault. Why couldn’t I have just continued on my steady diet of dollar menu items for all three of my meals! Anyway, if you’re s...
