Sungai Lembing, a somewhat "sleepy" town in Pahang, located about 42km from Kuantan. Was, in the early 20th century, once known as the El-Dorado of the East. . It was THE place in the East where financial riches were made. It had then the richest deposits of tin ore in the world, second only to Bolivia. The tin ores in those days were mined underground via various levels of tunnels. And as the years went by eventually Sungai Lembing had the largest, longest and deepest subterranean mine in the world.

The pelamin or wedding dais is specially created for the "bersanding" ceremony - the highlight and perhaps the most essential event besides the akad nikah (marriage contract)- in a traditional Malay wedding. It is usually grandly designed and gaily decorated, to create some symbolism of a king and queen sitting in state. As you know, Malays call the bride and groom or the wedded couple as "Raja Sehari" or "Royals for the day". They are therefore treated as such on their wedding day. Oh well, let them be.
