The Adventures of Elle and Russ. Sunday, June 3, 2012. Spring holiday: London, UK. We hopped across the pond for a wee holiday in May :-). Russ and I had wanted to visit Belgium for quite some time. We were talking about it in the fall and the planning started! Thus Euroblitz 2012 was born. Oh, I didn't mention that B and D were meeting us in London? Russ and I had planned to go to Europe and I managed to convince B that now was a good time for them to go as well. Convince. Their flight arrived about hal...

The Adventures of Elle and Russ. Monday, April 11, 2011. A film, looks awesome! Found some very useful info on this. Sunday, April 10, 2011. You may be wondering, what does one pack to walk the Camino? Trying to find the right gear was sometimes a challenge. Compass (Suunto).really not necessary but I'm a bit paranoid. 3 or 4 pairs of underwear (Patagonia technical). 3 or 4 pairs of socks (Wrightsock double layer). Pair of stretchy, water repellent pants for daily hiking (Eddie Bauer Travex). Isn't it in...

I spent Sunday wallowing in my own self-pity with a side of heat exhaustion. It was nearly 30C while we planted the garden on Saturday and despite my best efforts (wide brimmed hat, shoulders covered, plenty of water/powerade, and frequent breaks in the shade) I still managed to make myself sick. Have I mentioned I am just not cut out of anything over 20C? It took me days to warm up! I loved it. It was like my ideal habitat! Maybe a tolerance could be built up? How do you guys beat the heat? Our first gu...

The Adventures of Elle and Russ: York, England
http://elleandruss.blogspot.com/2012/06/york-england.html
The Adventures of Elle and Russ. Wednesday, June 6, 2012. Midday on Sunday we went to King's Cross station and caught a train to York. It was a nice journey, smooth and quick. I wish there was a better network of passenger trains in Canada because it is such an enjoyable way to travel. No hassle, no traffic, no stress. You can sit and read a book, take a nap, or simply watch the passing countryside. We went to see the York Minster. Through the old narrow streets. We did our darndest to try have a pint at...

The Adventures of Elle and Russ. Monday, June 27, 2011. Calzadilla de la Cueza to Sahagun. We walked 22.4km from Calzadilla de la Cueza to Sahagun. I was so happy when I woke up that morning and realized that I could still walk! I was so sore and tired the previous night that I didn't know what to expect. I think it must be all the red wine we drank nightly; it was our medicine ;-). We stayed at the Albergue Cluny municipal hostel for 4 Euros per person for a bunk in the 60 bed dorm. It was our longest d...
