What is the difference between a dedicated IP and a static IP? Static means "unchanging". Dedicated means "unique". Sometimes people use the term static and they mean dedicated. Shared IP websites still have static IPs - the IP doesn't change. But it isn't dedicated. Why would I want a dedicated IP? You need a dedicated IP to have an SSL certificate.
