The Alz Bike Challenge.: The Etape Act 1 - Modane to Alpe d'Huez
http://alzbikechallenge.blogspot.com/2011/07/etape-act-1-modane-to-alpe-dhuez.html
The Alz Bike Challenge. Tuesday, 12 July 2011. The Etape Act 1 - Modane to Alpe d'Huez. 11 July 2011 -. Kit laid out ready to go. The day started with a 3.30am alarm, breakfast and a 40 minute coach trip to the start village in Modane. The bike in Modane ready for the off. The rider cheery and as ready as I was going to be. Note the arm warmers, it was a bit chilly at 6.30 but the weather was looking promising. Finally things got moving and I rolled over the start line at 8.08 am. Alas my enthusiasm got ...

The Alz Bike Challenge.: December 2010
http://alzbikechallenge.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
The Alz Bike Challenge. Saturday, 11 December 2010. Not quite to plan. Alas this December's training is not going as I had hoped. The sole reason being my elf, (christmas joke, boom boom). My first club run of the month was not unexpectedly cold but the cold air had me completely out of puff and struggling to keep the pedals turning let alone keep up with the group, let alone stay in my usual position just off the back of the group. My heart rate isn't as high as it was on high rate work outs. Monday, 6 ...

The Alz Bike Challenge. Sunday, 15 May 2011. 8 weeks to go! My challenge feels only around the corner. Over the past months I have noticed real improvement in my fitness and training. Today I rode the same again with the variation to include the 17km 'warm up' that will be from Modane to the foot of the Telegraphe. I also paid particular attention to my timings and pace notes (http:/ alzbikechallenge.blogspot.com/2011/04/more-detailed-etape-info-received.html). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Brains ...

The Alz Bike Challenge.: June 2011
http://alzbikechallenge.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
The Alz Bike Challenge. Monday, 20 June 2011. 3 Weeks to Go! Scary, stuff now with only 3 weeks to go until the Etape and I turn the pedals ‘in anger’! In pursuit of the first aim, I have created a short list of my essentials for the ride/trip to France. Nutrigrain bars (open before the start). Contact lenses (essential to see where I’m going). Diaper cream (allows for a smooth ride, say no more! Bike (essential in my opinion). Leg warmers (could be a bit nippy at 2,500m ish). Arm warmers (see above).

The Alz Bike Challenge.: February 2011
http://alzbikechallenge.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
The Alz Bike Challenge. Monday, 28 February 2011. A Morning in Hell! I entered Hell of the Ashdown for the weekend and as promised here is the post event report. Alas it is a sorry report. Crossing the start mat at approx 9:07 am, not even 100 metres down the road and my saddle slips and is uncomfortable pointing skywards. A quick curse and out with the tool kit. Levelled off, tightended up and on the road again, my fellow starters in the 9:07 bunch already well ahead. So I turned round and made my way b...

http://nancytolondon2012.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Cycle Slam 2012 with Flintoff and Dallaglio - Nancy to Olympic Stadium. I am cycling from Nancy to London in May 2012 as part of the Dallaglio Flintoff Cycle Slam. This blog records my progress as I try to get in shape for the big event. Sunday, 29 April 2012. The wheels keep on turning. If I had thought that the New Forest weather was somewhat inclement, it was nothing like London where the rain was torrential. Mrs Y picked me up, and safely back home, it was time for a nice steak and a drop of vin ...
