Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Why Yes, I Do Think I'm Some Kind of Model or Something. In honor of the September fashion magazines, or as I should say, weight lifting weights, I decided to do some Editorial type poses. You know, the real professional type stuff that you shouldn't try at home. So far so good. That's right, put your back into it. Okay, now it looks like you've gotta pee. Can you hear me now? Top that, Kate Freaking Moss! Oh and if you're still reading:. NY& Co trouser jeans-(thrifted). While y...

Making 50 Fabulous: Dress Up, Dress Down
http://making50fabulous.blogspot.com/2011/10/dress-up-dress-down.html
Thursday, October 6, 2011. Dress Up, Dress Down. I'm back to work from my break and will be working about 6 days a week and a couple of nights most weeks. Whew! I won't be posting every day as you may have noticed. I'm going to try to be more organized and prepared overall so the hectic schedule doesn't get to me like last time. One of the nice things about my jobs is that it gives me a reason to dress up for a few hours. Today I taught a History of Costume class at FIDM. I found this jacket in the men's...

Making 50 Fabulous: Good Times
http://making50fabulous.blogspot.com/2011/10/good-times.html
Monday, October 3, 2011. I had some good times the past few days. Friday I got to see my BFF who is only back for a few days from New York. I'm still getting used to my new IPhone but loving the Instagram app. It can even make a new baby look like an old-timey baby. (That's her baby). Saturday night my stand-up comedy students had their showcase. I went up at the end and did 10 minutes. It was a blast. I haven't performed in like 2 months except on my birthday. I really needed that. Oh, yes, you can get ...

A Little Junk In My Trunk: January 2012
http://alittlejunkinmytrunk.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 31, 2012. The Wall Street Journal. Our family has this very odd thing where unusual occurrences happen often. My 16 year old son posted a game play strategy on You Tube ( watch it here). Next thing you know a WSJ reporter comes from New York to interview him and it was on the front page of the Wall Street Journal this morning. This is a link to the article: http:/ online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203806504577181320148513432.html? Just another day in the suburbs. In a glass Pyrex me...

too few beacons: January 2012

Thursday, January 12, 2012. I broke my own unwritten rule with this cream and white silk blouse. Originally from the now defunct Mervyn's, a store I would have turned my nose up at (and frequently did) before it went out of business, it was the print on this blouse that made it impossible for me to leave behind. I'm linking up to Thursdays are for Thrifters. Click over to check out everyone's thrift shop finery. Links to this post. Wednesday, January 11, 2012. And there you have it- pretentious vocabular...

Paris du Jour: Thrift Parisian Style
http://oc2paris.blogspot.com/2011/04/thrift-parisian-style.html
A photographic journal of an American. Who used to live in Paris. Friday, April 1, 2011. My fabulous cousin Kris has a blog, a thrifty LA life. And early in March she challenged her readers to a. March Madness Thrift Competition. I thought it would be fun to try the challenge, Parisian style. First I had to find where the consignment and thrift shops are in Paris. And Charity shopping (now we're getting somewhere! Definitely not me, and it definitely doesn't fit the parameters of this competition. They t...

Shopping with Mom | The Frump Factor

Reflections on style, beauty, and fighting frump over 40. About Anne @ The Frump Factor. Once in a lifetime. June 11, 2012. Anne @ The Frump Factor. I recently returned from a visit to the Frump Factor ancestral home. It was here that I endured junior high school, an endless sequence of bad haircuts, and culottes. So let’s just say the style legacy I left behind is not one of greatness. We’ve come a long way since the good old days, when I would whine, “Moooom! 8221; every time she opened my dressing roo...
