Slow Living Essentials: March 2014

http://slowlivingessentials.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Saturday, March 8, 2014. Eat Local Challenge #1. It was a challenge with a food theme. A challenge that got me thinking about where my food really comes from for one meal out of the month. A challenge that didn't sound too tricky to start with, but the more I thought about it, the more challenging it became. For a person that is fortunate to have a veggie garden right outside her back door, there was an array of offerings to be considered. Zucchini fritters? Thanks goes to Brydie from Cityhippyfarmgirl.

Slow Living Essentials: Summer Snaps (part 1)

http://slowlivingessentials.blogspot.com/2015/02/summer-snaps-part-1.html

Sunday, February 8, 2015. Summer Snaps (part 1). The Good Stuff' (recipe below). A little nod to our summer getaway. Caravans, cards and questionable cooking over fire were the focus. Along with swimming, biking, fishing and quirky little shop perusing. It was nice to have my mum camp alongside us and join us on biking/coffee/secondhand shop jaunts. And share the warmth of a campfire at the end of each day. February 9, 2015 at 2:35 AM. That all looks and sounds so sweetly perfect, Christine! Oh that summ...

Our Path To Sustainability: A surprise in the mail that brings me back to blogging

http://path-to-sustainability.blogspot.com/2014/08/a-surprise-in-mail-that-brings-me-back.html

Tuesday, August 5, 2014. A surprise in the mail that brings me back to blogging. It has been 9 months since my last post, wow how time flies. I had just about given up blogging, until yesterday when I received a parcel in the mail with some very encouraging words. To explain, I need to go back a bit, a year back to be exact. On the 3 August last year I posted about buying borax in bulk. And how I found a fantastic supplier, kcatz soap crafting. So yesterday my thank you parcel arrived and I am so gratefu...

Our Path To Sustainability: Spring already?

http://path-to-sustainability.blogspot.com/2015/09/spring-already.html

Tuesday, September 8, 2015. I can hardly believe my last post was around this time last year. I was determined to blog more often and, well obviously, that did not happen. I have decided that I will continue to blog as and when I feel like posting something. Could be once a week, or even once a year, but I won't shut this blog down yet. We still have big dreams of moving out of the city and if that happens I would love to document the journey here. Tuesday, September 08, 2015. November 10, 2015 at 1:11 PM.

Calico Hen: pine mulch

http://calicohen.blogspot.com/2012/05/pine-mulch.html

Tuesday, May 15, 2012. I anxiously await the taste of our first strawberry this year. I have switched to pine needle mulch this year as I read that it helps to produce a "wilder" tasting strawberry. And, unlike the straw mulch used in years past, it's free and gathered from our land. Regardless of any taste difference, I will probably proclaim these berries as the sweetest. Posted by Calico Hen. tamborine patch: November 2010

http://tamborinepatch.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Saturday, November 13, 2010. A large branch on my grand old lemon tree was dead. I cut it off and immediately discovered the cause. Bronze Orange bugs. They are everywhere. Now, accoring to my sources, October and November are the big months for these guys and as they suck on the sap, they cause damage to the branches - hence the dead one! An inspect spray that works, but also kills the 'goodies' - of which I have plenty. spiders, ladybugs etc. Labels: bronze orange bug. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

tamborine patch: summer update

Friday, March 2, 2012. Of mung beans and millet. These crops like rain - sigh, I wonder if they LOVE rain? And should do some good for the soil. Still, no point in complaining (although I will, make no mistake! I am planting the autumn/winter crop this weekend, but only in seed trays so they can get a good start without battling all this rain. Thanks Green harvest. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Slow Living Farm

Slow Living Farm is what we call our tropical organic farm on the Pacific coast of Mexico. We came here on our honeymoon ten years ago and stayed. We didn't know the scope of what we were starting together but with our hearts wide open we began and our dream grew. It's been an adventure in self-discovery and learning how to live purposefully, savoring the "doing" rather than the "just get it done". Monday, October 6, 2014.
