beck's blog: Close Encounters of the Crocheted Kind - Meep & Stella
http://peskypixie.blogspot.com/2014/03/close-encounters-of-crocheted-kind-meep.html
Thursday, March 06, 2014. Close Encounters of the Crocheted Kind - Meep and Stella. I love to play Scrabble and joined an online gaming site a while ago just so I could play it without any of those dang annoying ads. I've learned how to play lots of other games at the site as well. When someone at the site made a graph with which she created a Perler beaded coaster, (out of one of the characters from one of the games), I knew I had to try and crochet an afghan by doing the same. I named her Stella. The d...

beck's blog: Autism wiggly trivet
http://peskypixie.blogspot.com/2015/01/autism-wiggly-trivet.html
Sunday, January 25, 2015. This is a crocheted wiggly trivet using seven colors of size 10 crochet thread. It's a "frame" of puzzle pieces surrounding a puzzled heart in the center. Please click on the photos to enlarge them). Each puzzle piece is shaped like a person. (Except for some inside the heart. I couldn't make all those the person shape). The last photo is of the back. If you make one of your own this will help you. Posted by Becky at 11:07 AM. The people shaped puzzle pieces are fantastic!

beck's blog: Genie and Simba wiggly Trivets
http://peskypixie.blogspot.com/2015/04/genie-and-simba-wiggly-trivets.html
Friday, April 17, 2015. Genie and Simba wiggly Trivets. When Robin Williams died, I wanted to make a crocheted genie in memory of his wonderful life and talents. I decided to make a wiggly trivet. It was really hard and I don't think it turned out very Robin-Williams-esque. But I tried. (Please click on the pictures to enlarge them). While I was at it, I made a Simba wiggly trivet too. Sand art picture that Rafiki, (that wise monkey guy), draws on the rock in the beginning when Simba is born. Baby Animal...

That Tome of the Month: August 2009
http://thattomeofthemonth.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
That Tome of the Month. I'm a writer who has always enjoyed doing close readings. Every month, I invite someone to join me in reading a book and discussing it via email. The complete email discussions are then posted here. This is not a blog for literary gossip or book reviews. Instead, it is a forum for genuine literary dialogue. (All swearing is strictly of the high-brow variety.). Saturday, August 29, 2009. By Miguel de Cervantes. Is it Don-licious, or does it put the "dull" in "Dulcinea"? Is about mu...

beck's blog: Pop Tab Purse
http://peskypixie.blogspot.com/2015/04/pop-tab-purse.html
Wednesday, April 22, 2015. I made a pop tab purse this time recycling lots and lots of Pop can pull tabs and crocheting them together. (Please click on the photos to enlarge them). I used Lion brand Bonbons yarn in their Party colors. (It comes in a small 8-pack of little 2.8 oz. sizes. It has metallic threads twisted with the yarn.) I also used a hideous ring with an amber stone in the center and two on each side for the closure. A carbinger keeps it closed. The lining is hand-sewn into the purse. View ...

Sunday, March 02, 2014. Baby Animals Afghan - Team Sasquatch - Winter Olympics Games 2014. This year for Ravelry's Ravellenic Winter Games 2014, I joined the Team Sasquatch and finished up an afghan I started a while ago but had never finished until now. I had wanted to make a tunisian afghan using graphs made for filet crochet. I also wanted to use two different patterns and pick out and match up the animal graphs from each pattern into one blanket. Design 915 and Design 7757. Since I finished my UFO pr...

beck's blog: Autism Awareness Puzzle Piece Vest
http://peskypixie.blogspot.com/2014/06/autism-awareness-puzzle-piece-vest.html
Friday, June 13, 2014. Autism Awareness Puzzle Piece Vest. I decided to try out making a vest with the Autism Awareness Puzzle Pattern I drew up a few years ago. I also decided to make it in wool, tunisian crocheted, and then felt the whole thing in the washer to make a nice thick, soft, colorful vest. Here it is. I think you can click on the photos to enlarge them. The front upright on the bench and lying flat. The back on the bench and then lying flat. Here it is with the outside showing opened up.

Tuesday, May 13, 2014. Batty For Nora - Nora Batty Crocheted, Felted Vest. I made a tribute vest to the late Kathy Staff who portrayed Nora Batty from the British comedy " Last of the Summer Wine. I used a stencil I found on the web which was made from this photo of Kathy Staff in character as Nora Batty. I uploaded the stencil to the microrevolt.org knitPro websight. To make it into a graph. I decided to use 100% all wool yarn and felt it after I was done crocheting it. So then, just to make sure people...

beck's blog: March Madness Afghan
http://peskypixie.blogspot.com/2014/04/march-madness-afghan.html
Wednesday, April 02, 2014. With so many left-over colors of yarn from previous projects, I created this wild and frenzied afghan I'm calling March Madness. It's fifteen squares, all tunisian crocheted, and joined together. There are six basic colors with - varying shades - of yellow, orange, pink, turquoise, green, and purple. Not quite as many chevrons as this year's Norwegian Olympic Curling team,. I used black and white yarn for the square borders and joining. I made them zig zag as well. Actually the...

http://peskypixie.blogspot.com/2014/08/woodstock-peace-afghan.html
Monday, August 25, 2014. I finished my "So You Think You Can Dance" swap on Craftster and sent it out to Helen. Here's the Woodstock Peace afghan. I saw a t-shirt online with this on it so I copied the image and uploaded it to knitpro to graph it. It's tunisian crocheted with a size J cabled afghan hook. After it was done I outlined the word PEACE in black yarn so it would stand out better. Bombers jet planes riding shotgun in the sky,. Turning into butterflies above our nation.". Well, that was my "larg...
