Ethno, Arts and Crafts. With frequent direct flights from Europe and the middle East, extensive infrastructure and, most importantly, the cream of Central Asian architecture, Uzbekistan is becoming an increasingly sophisticated travel destination. In the north is Khiva. A once ruined desert town that has been magnificently restored through Soviet and UNESCO funded projects. One of the oldest towns in the world, to its south and across the desert, lies Bukhara. Click here to continue reading!
STANTOURS - Kazakhstan - Main

Ethno, Arts and Crafts. Being the largest of the Central Asian Republics, Kazakhstan is a country full of contrasts. With its southern capital Almaty being by far the most advanced city in the region and a proud semi-nomadic people inhabiting its infinite steppe lands, most of the country remains yet to be discovered by the foreign visitor. Some of the most exciting features in Kazakhstan accessible to travellers include the Charyn Canyon. Fascinating images from Kazakhstan. Last modified January 31, 2006.

Central Asia - Extreme & Expedition
http://www.stantours.com/ca_syl_ee.html
Ethno, Arts and Crafts. Central Asia has fantastic climbing, and some seriously challengeing off-road routings in it's desert areas. The Torugart pass and the mountaineous routings of western Kyrgyzstan and the remoter areas of the Kopetdag Mountain. Range have fascinating off-road treks for cyclists and motorcyclists. Other extreme sports such as paragliding and sky-diving have tremendous potential, but there is little supportive infrastructure. Please continue to our Turkmenistan pages.

Ethno, Arts and Crafts. Guided Tour to the Main Attractions. Turkmenistan remains by far the most unexplored country along the Silk Road. In the rainbow of colours that characterise this vast strip of land stretching between China and Persia, the Turkmen culture has preserved some of the most nomadic and Shaman traditions. As well as it's strong attraction toward Mysticism. And superstitions commonly associated with other Silk Road cultures. Click here for more general information on Turkmenistan.

Chris and Margos Wanderings. Now at http:/ candmwanderings.wordpress.com/. Tuesday, June 30, 2009. A Lesson in Corruption and Graft. 2009/06/28-29: Khorog to Dushanbe by Jeep: 580km. Our driver for the 24 hour trek was Mukim. Since his vehicle had jumpseats in the back, we had to load our bikes onto the roof rack. We agreed upon a price for transport via the north road (M41, Pamir Highway) which he seemed to think was now open, and left in mid-afternoon. Would calmly pocket the cash, and we'd be on our w...

My girlfriend (now wife) and I traveled overland by car from Stollberg, Germany to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
