Taurid meteors to dazzle this November | Down2Earth
http://education.down2earth.eu/news/107
Taurid meteors to dazzle this November. The Taurids meteor shower is active throughout November with a double radiant and a double peak. Observers can usually expect around 10 meteors per hour from dark sky locations, but moonlight could wash out many in the first third of the month. The tiny fragments burning up in the Earth’s atmosphere, debris from the periodic comet 2P/Encke, will reach peaks of activity on the 5th (Southern radiant) and 12th/13th November (Northern radiant).

Follow the Falling Meteorite - booklet version. In this activity you will track a meteor’s path using a technique known as triangulation which can be used to measure the direction to an object from two known locations. From this you can predict where the meteorites might be found. Deep Impact on Earth. In this activity students will work out how long it takes light to travel from comet Tempel 1 to Earth and how long after the collision in the Deep Impact mission we will see this event.
