Friday, January 8, 2010. Movies that deserve the HD treatment they will most likely never get:. This spectacular Hungarian film about subway ticket inspectors is most notable for launching the lackluster Hollywood career of Nimród Antal, director of Vacancy. And the upcoming Predators. Wearing a bear costume) but its kinetic, textured visuals and impressive subterranean setting, which remain impressive on the poorly mastered DVD we're currently stuck with, could blow some serious minds. I bug the Criteri...

Wednesday, December 16, 2009. Boasts not the yawn inducing synergy of starting a pizza joint next to a dive bar in your local cracked-out strip mall, but the infinitely more awesome (though slightly less plausible) combination of the Apple II. Playing the unfortunately named Stanley Coopersmith, Clint is a hapless orphan with a charity scholarship to a prestigious military academy. He's crap at sports, has 24/7 pit stains, and is a constant target for Bubba, the school's resident bully and future bum...

Yea and verily, it is a high example of 50s. We open with a guy sitting at a desk doing a "newscast" for KRKR TV- you know you're in good hands when a movie opens with someone talking at a desk, whether it be a fake newscaster or clap doctor or priest or Criswell. He talks about a "strange red fireball". Cannot be far behind.

The Patron Saint of Mediocrity. I am the patron saint of mediocrity. I absolve you. I absolve you. Friday, November 26, 2010. I can't believe I'm defending Ohio State. As some of you may have heard, Ohio State president Gordon Gee complained that some unnamed college football teams played a schedule consisting of "the Little Sisters of the Poor. Boise State president Bob Kustra not only bitched about Gee's comments, but added the following remark:. Ohio State has 20 colleges. BSU has seven. Ohio State ha...

The Patron Saint of Mediocrity. I am the patron saint of mediocrity. I absolve you. I absolve you. Saturday, June 11, 2011. There are about a half a dozen ways that you can examine this unusual Swedish silent classic, and I'm going to give you a once-over so you can determine if it's the sort of film you want to watch or not. Link to a free version of the film is right here. And feel free to comment or email me if you want to talk more about it. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Just another face in the crowd.
