On: July 7, 2010. This was one of my best ideas all year – I used mostly junk to teach a great science concept through art. That’s SCRAP at its peak teaching ability. Students worked to keep the tops on smaller sheets of paper and then took their art home, as well as the spinners, so they could use them again at home. Students revitalized dead crummy dollar store markers (donated to SCRAP and weeded out) in liquid watercolors (you could use food coloring). Miscellaneous End of Year Wrap Up. I became supe...

Adding the design is part of the fun, since they can try and predict what it will look like when it spins. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. I eventually volunteered over 1500 hours at Whitman Elementary last year, and SCRAP donated $140 worth of art materials, which was enough to keep 370 students happy and learning the whole year long. Here are some photos of projects we worked on during the third trimester:. Students were challenged t...

I used the die-cut machine to make the shapes quickly and easily (I needed about 50 stars) but students could easily cut their own. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Teaching Art With Picture Books.com. Lesson Plans, Tips and Ideas for Elementary Art Based on Children's Literature. On Top of the Mountain. Tuesday, November 17th, 2009 at 11:17 pm.
