Beekeeping in Top-bar Hives. Archive for August, 2008. An update from Ken. August 4, 2008. Since then I have put the legs of the hive in bowls of oil, because I noticed a line of ants marching in and out of the hive. I will take a picture when I have done it. Ants drive me nuts! Anyway, on this visit, my goal was to have a look at the furthest back combs, the first ones they started near the follower board. I have never looked that far back in my previous inspections. Dogwood Farms of Chapel Hill. A farm in a community. The Places In Between. Way to Bee Free, Honey. September 3, 2012. When we came here to Dogwood Farms I took a beekeeping class with Orange County Beekeepers. Great people). Bees are amazing creatures. They began appearing on earth roughly 100 million years ago (dinosaurs went extinct 65 million years ago), which means they have been pollinating the planet since flowering plants came in to existence. This entry was posted in Land. The Places In Between.
