The International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW) is a collective bargaining agent for members in a wide segment of the workplace. UAW-represented workplaces range from multinational corporations, small manufacturers and state and local governments to colleges and universities, hospitals and private non-profit organizations. Region 8 covers the Southeast, including Tennessee. The District of Columbia. And the following counties of Pennsylvania.

Civil Rights in Region 8. How the UAW Civil Rights Department Came About. The UAW recognized the close similarities between workers’ rights and civil rights early on and created a Fair Practices Anti-Discrimination Department during the 10th Constitutional Convention in 1946. This led to the creation of the No Discrimination Policy of the UAW. The delegates at the 27th Convention, held in 1983 changed its name to the Civil Rights Department. Region 8 Retired Workers. The Retired Workers in Region 8 are under the Direction of Ray Curry, Region 8 Director. Director Curry has assigned Roy Thomas and Jim Rogers to coordinate this program.
