http://webs-of-significance.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Weaving together various observations and musings - usually pertaining to aspects of Hong Kong (life) but sometimes beyond. Thursday, April 30, 2015. A little adventure of a hike in a remote section of the northeast New Territories (Photo-essay). Or officially designated trails. Such as the Kap Lung Forest Trail. And Tai Tan Country Trail. With a reputation for being haunted. Found So Lo Pun to be atmospheric, it's our little adventure of a hike out of there that we found memorable. Rather than just ...

DRAGON DAYS: The Weekend in Black and White.

http://dragonstardays.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-weekend-in-black-and-white_23.html

Thursday, 23 July 2015. The Weekend in Black and White. A tiny cove of Dungloe Bay. There are many excellent black and white photos to be found through the links on the Home Page. Very interesting little dam in this shot. 24 July 2015 at 18:09. Such wonderful textures - the rocks, the grasses, the water. Love it! 24 July 2015 at 18:17. 24 July 2015 at 18:52. These little coves always makes me wonder about what exotic sea life might be lurking here. Interesting photo. 24 July 2015 at 19:09. 72 years old, ...

CantoDreaming: September 2013

http://cantodreaming.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html

Saturday, September 21, 2013. Jet lag, the heat and housing. I am not sure if it is the heat or if I still have jetlag but I am still tired much of the time. I am sleeping but I usually wake up a couple hours earlier than desirable. It is annoying but I know that it will pass. Today was checkout day at my airbnb place. And it was moving day. Perfect timing. I feel incredibly lucky to have gotten this far. Now I can focus more on my classes. Monday, September 9, 2013. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). HK Movie ...

Monday, March 02, 2009. The Tiger Killer v. The Golden Lotus, Part 3: Li Han-Hsiang. The story of Wu Song the "Tiger Killer"; and Pan Jinlian the "Golden Lotus" (because of her tiny feet), has been told and retold, again and again. Especially by director Li Han-Hsiang, who has obsessively directed no less than four films about the subject. Also see: Part One. Hu Chin with Yeung Kwan on top, from The Golden Lotus. He then took off [Pan Jinlian]'s embroidered shoes, unwound her foot bindings, and amused hi...

Sunday, October 26, 2014. From the land of Umbrellas. Meanwhile I have been reading (special thanks to Webs of Significance. Admiralty is definitely occupied. If you asked me if you could buy a tent in Hong Kong a month ago I would have probably said "I doubt it." Holy cow, there are a ton of tents on the streets, who knew? Sunday, October 5, 2014. CantoDreaming: September 2010

http://cantodreaming.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Tuesday, September 28, 2010. A West Village Institution. The corner of MacDougal St. and West 3rd, heart of the Village in Manhattan. It has always been one of those reassuring landmarks for me. I don't know how long that mural has been there, but it has to be at least 30 years. Has anyone been there? Sometimes people come to NYC as tourists and see more than some of us locals (or in my case long-term transplant) do. Saturday, September 25, 2010. Renn Faire and the Battle of the Sexes. Sunday, January 30, 2011. Cheung Chau- part 2. Just off the boat, we started exploring the shops. My friends did a lot of shopping mainly for food items that they wanted to bring back to the US with them but we also took pictures of the items for sale. More to come at a later date . the pictures take forever and a day to load so I am only doing a few at a time. Thursday, January 27, 2011. I did like the character Lisabeth, I found her refreshingly different, she is a highly functional dysfunctional woman...

CantoDreaming: Chinese New Year and rambling

http://cantodreaming.blogspot.com/2014/01/chinese-new-year-and-rambling.html

Monday, January 27, 2014. Chinese New Year and rambling. Chinese New Year is so important a holiday that even though my semester started a week ago today, I have only 3 days of classes this week then I am off on holiday until February 10th. From a strictly educational perspective this is a bit weird because momentum hasn't even built up yet and we're on break but from a cultural experience it makes perfect sense. Chinese New Year is IT in Hong Kong. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A Hero Never Dies.

Saturday, August 14, 2010. Another site I have been missing is Monkeypeaches.com. It hasn't been updated since May. I have long relied on that for info on upcoming Chinese and Hong Kong films. I can't help wonder what happened, anyone know? I am off for the week to see my family, the last of my vacation. I haven't been there since December so it has been awhile. Yep, I am going to have to be in suspense on the rest of the tv series until I come back. Sunday, August 8, 2010. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Friday, August 2, 2013. Still waiting to hear on my student visa but I was accepted in the Cantonese program (YIPPIE! So I am confident it is just a matter of time. If they turn me down? I have a plan B, no worries. My mind is made up, my flight is paid for, I am going to Hong Kong no matter what. My next blog post will most likely not be until September, when I am in Hong Kong.
