Petals & Cupcakes: December 2008
http://petalsandcupcakes.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 29, 2008. Whether it's baking or creating something pretty I cannot sit still. Ever. It's SUPER rare for me to sit through a movie at home or just simply chill out. Yes, I'm currently on vacation, however that does not mean that I'm just vegging out :). This week I am working on cupcakes and hair pieces for a New Years Eve event and a few upcoming weddings. How nice is it to provide cupcakes and accessories for one event = fabulous! I hope that everyone is having a fabulous holiday!

An Artist Moves to Costa Rica: May 2011
http://larryfelderart.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 28, 2011. 4b Paint on Canvas. Continuing on with "My Girls," you see my pencil tracing here taped to a stretched canvas. I have already posted how I reach this stage in my work, so I won't go into that detail on this one. You can read my prep techniques in one of my first posts in my archeive (March, 2011 – post 1b). Once I have transferred my tracing to the canvas I remove the tracing paper and fold it up for my files. Now its time to put some paint on canvas, my favorite part. In this cas...

An Artist Moves to Costa Rica: April 2011

Thursday, April 28, 2011. 3e Adding Light and more reflections. Looking for Drama here! Now it is time to start lighting the objects in front of the light. You can see here how I am going around and adding a light yellow highlight to all the boat rigging. I am also considering keeping the light attached to the rigging at the left of this photo as a secondary light. I had put it in originally and have been looking at it while I paint. The rust colored objects near it are lighted from both sides. It was fun...

An Artist Moves to Costa Rica: June 2011
http://larryfelderart.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 28, 2011. 4e Finishing the Painting. Here's a view of where this painting stands now. Its looking good, but I can see numerous things that need fixing and some unfinished items to take care of. I have "wiggled in" all the ropes now. I'm trying to make sure the ropes are in front of, and behind the other reflections. They don't have to be perfect. In fact, they look more real when they are not. The water's surface does all kinds of distortions to the reflections. The large boat still didn't ...

An Artist Moves to Costa Rica: November 2011
http://larryfelderart.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 21, 2011. Story: How to build a bar-b-que pit in less than an hour. Linda was in the States. My daughter's friend, Brando, was staying at our house, surfing and helping me out in the yard for a few weeks. He mentioned how good bar-b-que would be. "You don't have a pit do you? And there you have it! A home-made, aluminum, bar-b-que pit. It was completed in less than an hour, cooks good food and it didn't cost a cent! Is that "Tico" or what? Labels: Stories from Costa Rica. Story: How to b...

An Artist Moves to Costa Rica: January 2012

Tuesday, January 24, 2012. STORY: My Jeep Cherokee Saga. I THOUGHT I WAS SO SMART! I was going to beat the system. Warning, this is not a short story. But, if you want to know why it took almost a year for us to finally receive our car in Costa Rica after shipping it, read on. POT HOLES ARE THE RULE. Plus, you won't really know how much the tax is exactly until after it gets here. Your shipper will give you an estimate, but until it goes through the taxing officials, you won't have an exact price. Then, ...

An Artist Moves to Costa Rica: Painting "Fat Boy" –– Part Two.
http://larryfelderart.blogspot.com/2012/05/painting-fat-boy-part-two.html
Sunday, May 20, 2012. Painting "Fat Boy" –– Part Two. This is the second part of the oil painting I am working on titled, "Fat Boy." I left off with the beginning of painting in the reflection of the green boat as shown above. Here you can see that I have added the railing to the reflection. And, here are more reflection details added to the small boat, and you can see that I have increased the light falling on the grass in the background and the posts in the water. Once I was happy with the little touch...
