As I mentioned in the previous post, our plan for Tuesday was to ride the Oregon Coast Gravel Epic. Route The actual event was held a few weeks before our trip, but we found GPS tracks online, so we figured we could just go out on our own epic. To get out early, but early is relative when one is on vacation. We did have to get a few of the...

John and Pamela's Cycling Adventures. Photo by Jason DeVarennes. Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Oregon - Salem and Corvallis. Posted by Fixie Pixie. It's bittersweet when friends move away. Naturally, we miss seeing and riding with them on a regular basis, but it is also nice to have friends living in exotic travel destinations! To do another. Still, she could have just said no. When I asked. She didn't actually have to relocate all the way across the country! So, instead, we decided to endure the heat and...

John and Pamela's Cycling Adventures. Photo by Jason DeVarennes. Friday, February 13, 2015. Oregon - Coast to Eugene. Posted by Fixie Pixie. Since we had winched ourselves up Ten Mile Creek the day before, we decided to avoid riding the same road in the same direction and instead chose to climb out of Yachats on Cummins Peak Road. It had nothing to do with which climb might be easier! We had a big day planned. I'd made a reservation at Velo B&B. At this stage, we had definitively left the cool breezes of...

The Blayleys: Oregon - Eugene

John and Pamela's Cycling Adventures. Photo by Jason DeVarennes. Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Posted by Fixie Pixie. One of the disadvantages of travelling without firm plans and reservations is that you may find that the place you'd really like to stay has no vacancy. For our time in Eugene, we had hoped to stay at Velo B&B. Now, when seeking recommendations for anything, it's important to know your source. We've learned over time that when people recommend a restaurant or place to stay, to ask them what th...

Do a simple google search and you will find loads of articles. On precisely this topic. (It may be how you found this one! So since there is already so much information out there, why am I bothering to add to the noise with this post? Here's the Reader's Digest condensed version. A good brevet bike is one you. If your...

John and Pamela's Cycling Adventures. Photo by Jason DeVarennes. Monday, February 9, 2015. Posted by Fixie Pixie. As I work on this article, we have more than three feet of snow on the ground with a couple more feet on the way. Rumor has it that the groundhog was so fed up, he just packed his bags and moved to the other hemisphere. Sky high snowbanks line our roads and sidewalks. Now take a good look at your fancy lightweight racing. You need a winter bike! Maybe if you are just doing short jaunts around...

The Blayleys: Oregon - TREO
http://blayleys.blogspot.com/2015/01/oregon-treo.html
John and Pamela's Cycling Adventures. Photo by Jason DeVarennes. Monday, January 12, 2015. Posted by Fixie Pixie. Early in the summer, as my activity level seemed to be returning to normal, we started to talk about a cycling holiday. I had resumed regular riding and, while I was still battling pain, it was time for a proper cycling vacation.
