Quilting Nona

Saturday, October 18, 2014. Our kitchen remodel has been an exercise in two steps forward and one step back. First the insurance adjuster who was handling our claim up and quit, which meant our claim was delayed. On our third adjuster the claim was finally processed and the check just arrived. We were pleasantly surprised and now I feel just a little bit better about the decisions we are making, but the check was issued to us and our mortgage lender. I guess that is standard procedure? Some of the plumbi...

http://www.quiltingnona.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Monday, April 28, 2014. Spring Sampler Quilt Along. A girlfriend recently told me that there is type of anxiety that some people feel when their space is disorderly. Hello. Boy does that explain me and my recent love/hate relationship with my sewing room! So with my back to the remainder of the chaos, my reward:. In perfect timing . . . Cora's Quilts just released their Spring Sampler Quilt Along. Sponsored by Connecting Threads. Sunday, April 27, 2014. Son #2 left for his first deployment to the middle ...

Quilting Nona: July 2012

http://www.quiltingnona.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 31, 2012. I heard that there would be a month where those participating in AYOS would each choose a Schnibbles pattern of their choice and was excited when I learned that was the plan for this month. I chose to make a table runner using Miss Rosie's Little Red thinking a could 'whip' this out fairly quickly - AGAIN the month got away from me! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Coming from a long line of crafty women, I have wonderful childhood memories of time spent with them. I cherish the qu...

Quilting Nona: Kitchen Progress Report

http://www.quiltingnona.blogspot.com/2014/09/kitchen-progress-report.html

Wednesday, September 24, 2014. Now that the floor is dry and the insurance company paid us a visit, it's time to get moving on the kitchen. Having a handyman husband is a blessing and a challenge to one who lacks the virtue of patience . . . particularly when the handyman is somewhat of a perfectionist. The first step opening up the wall behind the frig, removing the studs,. Moving the water and electrical outlet. View looking up into the wall cavity above the top of the frig). The purpose of this? He ma...

Quilting Nona: May 2014

http://www.quiltingnona.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 7, 2014. The Best of Mother's Day Gifts. I celebrated Mother's Day last night with an impromptu get together with all my kids and grandkids! A gathering of that sort has become a rarity lately, so I always count it as a gift when we are able to get together and celebrate us. I just love the smiles on these faces! And so begins the count down,. Until the next 'leave' or our next trip to the east coast. Well, I could see disappointment written all over a certain four year old boy's face....

Quilting Nona: July 2013

http://www.quiltingnona.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 30, 2013. While the local Beverly's store is undergoing a 'make over', they are offering a sale on. Their merchandise. I was just going to dash in for a couple of 1/2 yards of solid flannel for a baby quilt in progress (more on that another time) . . . . the 'dash in' turned into a leisurely stroll. Ultimately I succumbed - that darn 25% off sale was just to much temptation for me to resist! So I treated myself to a couple new toys:. Sweet little boy in my life! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Poplun: Monday Mis En Place

http://poplun.blogspot.com/2013/03/monday-mis-en-place.html

Shop Poplun @ Etsy. Monday, March 11, 2013. Monday Mis En Place. Over the weekend, I had the chance to sit down and leaf through a fabulous book my mom. I've always been a cluttered person and my sewing space is no exception! The fact that I have a toddler really only compounds the problem, since I only have small windows of sewing time and I rarely "waste" that time cleaning up in between projects or organizing my space. And still be able to function in that space! I'm lucky enough to have a 70" rotary ...

Quilting

Wednesday, April 29, 2009. I hope all of you are having a good April! Our weather here in beautiful Santa Barbara has been cool and then hot and then cool again, so it does not seem to know what to do! We all know that June Gloom is on the way and the fog will roll in and cool everything off for a couple of months. And it is so fabulous. I live in a very small cottage so my biggest problem since I downsized is having a space to cut and this is the solution to my problems. So thank you J.B. Was with us in...
