Quilt Kisses

My Quilts First 100. Thursday, July 30, 2015. Mid-Year Goal Check and Stash Report. It is hard to believe that 2015 is already more than half over. When I realized this, I decided it would be the perfect time to see how I am accomplishing my goals for the year. My great big main goal for the year was to Enjoy. I have definitely been enjoying many things this year. :). A display of my quilts I enjoyed putting together. I also thought it would be good to update my Stash Report for the first half of the year.

Quilt Kisses: A Day in the Country: Finished Challenge Quilt

http://www.quiltkisses.blogspot.com/2015/06/a-day-in-country-finished-challenge.html

My Quilts First 100. Friday, June 19, 2015. A Day in the Country: Finished Challenge Quilt. This was such a fun quilt to make, and I really enjoyed participating in my first quilting challenge at my LQS. We were to use at least 80% of a fat quarter of Country Girls by Tasha Noel and make something. I went into a lot more detail of my process in my last post. The unexpected straight lines are fun even on the back. The backing fabric is from Vintage Happy by Lori Holt. What a difference the lighting made.

Quilt Kisses: My Craft Room

http://www.quiltkisses.blogspot.com/2013/12/my-craft-room.html

My Quilts First 100. Tuesday, December 3, 2013. A picture heavy post}. I always love looking at the places where other people create. I hope that doesn't mean I am nosy. It really means that I am looking for ideas and inspiration. :o). With that said, welcome to my craft room. This is the view from the door the week I started my blog in November 2013. My mom has a sewing drawer! I can still hear exactly how he said it in my mind. Although back then (2005), this is what my sewing room looked like. Back to...

Canuck Quilter: Checkerboard border

http://www.canuckquilter.com/2015/07/checkerboard-border.html

Monday, July 27, 2015. It seemed like a good idea, then not so much, then good again, then I ground my teeth. I think it was worth it. The blue is a bit washed out from the camera flash, but that’s what I get at 9:30pm! I thought my airplane quilt needed a little something more. A checkerboard border to echo the nine-patch alternate blocks sounded just right, and with strip piecing it would come together quickly. In theory. About halfway through I didn’t think this was such a good idea anymore! I love ho...

Finished Night Sky Quilt! June 28, 2014. Last January, I finished my version of Julie Herman’s Night Sky Quilt. You can read my previous posts about the inspiration. I sent the top off to Teresa of Quilting is my Bliss. To be quilted and she did an AMAZING job. Get ready for lots of pictures! Einstein decided to be part of my photo shoot! She quilted a couple of different designs in the stars. I used a few of my leftover strips for the backing. I just love this quilt! The colors are so cool! Wow…th...

Canuck Quilter: Which Way North?

http://www.canuckquilter.com/2015/08/which-way-north.html

Monday, August 10, 2015. Which will shortly be winging its way north to its new owner. I can’t tell you yet how I came up with that name, but I can say that it has nothing at all to do with that little maple leaf and Canada being in the northern half of the continent. It does have to do with an oops in my quilting design, and that’s all I will say until the recipient has a stab at figuring it out! Another picture just because. And the requisite “quilt with feet” shot. Finally, just in case you think I ac...

Canuck Quilter: March 2015

http://www.canuckquilter.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 31, 2015. I finished all 36 blue drunkard’s path blocks. I started getting the hang of them again near the end of the stack. Now I need to figure out what to do with them. My original intention was to remake Autumn moons. Hmm This isn’t soaring. The snowflakes definitely would need to be larger. Maybe Snowflake 3, version 2. After that ho-hum reaction to what I threw on the wall, I scrambled up the units and came up with a few different layouts unrelated to snowflakes. We had firm intentio...

Canuck Quilter: Is my paper shrinking?

http://www.canuckquilter.com/2015/07/is-my-paper-shrinking.html

Thursday, July 16, 2015. Is my paper shrinking? OK folks, I measured before and after. Paper does indeed shrink when it is ironed. Even the fancy “paper piecing” newsprint-style paper whose manufacturers claim it won’t shrink and curl. But here’s the kicker: it seems to go back to its original size after cooling down. Today I printed the paper foundation and measured. It was exactly the size it was supposed to be. Then I ironed the paper and measured again. Ha! You can see I lined up the 1” mark on...

Tutorial: Cuddly reversible fleece blanket – One million stitches …

https://onemillionstitches.wordpress.com/2013/08/25/tutorial-reversible-cuddly-fleece-blanket

One million stitches …. Tutorial: Cuddly reversible fleece blanket. August 25, 2013. November 16, 2013. I am beyond excited to share with you my first tutorial today, one of what I hope will be many more to come. This is for a cuddly, reversible fleece blanket. I started making these a few years ago, and have yet to make one for anyone who didn’t wind up loving it. They’re warm, they’re soft, they’re machine-washable, and you can make one in less than an afternoon. Two yards solid or printed fleece fabric.

Arcadia: Another finish! - Quiltineering

http://www.quiltineering.com/arcadia-another-finish

July 18, 2014. A year ago, almost to the day, I finished the top. For this fun and modern Arcadia quilt. Then it sat on my shelf, got boxed up and moved to Texas, where it sat on my shelf again, then repeat (box, move to Arizona, shelf) until….it was finished! I owe all of that to Stephanie, the Late Night Quilter. Who kindly quilted it for me. She has recently purchased a long arm machine and was looking for tops she could practice on…for free! Ummmyeah. I jumped on that opportunity. I bet that sounds w...
