Sunday, March 9, 2008. Perhaps you don't know this about me, but I like to name the places where I live. My home after I was divorced was 30 acres, a house and a barn in rural Lafayette, Colorado. The first morning I lived there I got up and roamed the property. Winding along an old fence was a lovely old-fashioned yellow rose. I named that place "Yellow Rose Ranch.". I came to my Iowa acreage in June 2003 determined to find a very romantic name for my property. I've always loved the word 'P rairyerth.

Monday, September 6, 2010. Getting From Here to There. Then I have to drive a strange car from the northeast outskirts of Paris to the southwest suburbs to connect to the A20 autoroute that will take me to points south. Throw in confusing French signage, a foreign language, and who knows what else and you have all the ingredients for disaster. Laury to the rescue! Monday, April 26, 2010. My neighbors, Doug and Loren at Malabar Farm, raise Oreo cookie cows. I've wanted to catch a picture of them for weeks, but either I didn't have my camera or they weren't in sight when I'd drive past the farm. This morning a few of them were out by the fence. They're actually called Belted Galloways. But I think Oreo cookie suits them just fine, don't you? They look very striking against their brilliantly green spring pasture.
