The root system of the fallen tree gives a sense of the size of the redwoods. Hwy 101 along the Pacific Ocean that follows the coastline in northern California begins veering more consistently inland about 200 miles north of San Francisco and passes the baton to Hwy 1 that follows the coastline to LA.
