Lou on blip.fm. Lou Pickney's Online Commentary. April 9, 2015. In roughly a month and a half, I'll be saying goodbye to Columbus and returning to Nashville, quite possibly once and for all. My year in Ohio didn't turn out anything like I expected it would when I moved here, which is disappointing in many ways. The sinister elements that I unfortunately can't write about tainted my overall experience in what is otherwise a wonderful, diverse city with some great people. And that usually means some late n...

Lou on blip.fm. Lou Pickney's Online Commentary. March 19, 2015. I'm gonna hit the road, adios my friend. Go someplace and start all over again". Allman Brothers "No One To Run With". Speaking of Columbus, I've got roughly two months to go on my apartment lease. It's been such a strange dynamic for me here. I love the city, great people and plenty of fun things to do. But I don't have many running buddies. I've got some friends from Fight Club. Better times are ahead. Hopefully. I hit the grocery store a...

Lou on blip.fm. Lou Pickney's Online Commentary. May 24, 2015. The last several days have been a whirlwind for me, a crazy schedule of packing and moving and driving and even running. But, after considerable effort, I'm now moved into my new home in the suburbs of Nashville. We managed to load up the truck quicker than I had anticipated. I really. My friend Jen, who I worked with in Columbus and who now works as a reporter for a TV station here in Nashville, talked me into taking part. Her running bu...

Lou on blip.fm. Lou Pickney's Online Commentary. June 18, 2015. The weekend before last, the Father Ryan High School. Class of 1995 had its 20-year reunion at the Pour House, a restaurant/bar in the Gulch area of downtown Nashville. It was great seeing old friends, some who I literally hadn't seen since graduation. In particular it was nice to catch up with my buddy Josh Tenisci, who I hadn't seen since my trip to Dallas in the summer of 2008. But things have changed over the last few years, and a demand...

Lou on blip.fm. Lou Pickney's Online Commentary. January 7, 2015. I wish that this weather would never leave". As I type this, temperatures are in the single digits here in the greater Columbus, Ohio area. To say that I miss the mid-70 temps that I enjoyed during my trip to Miami Beach would be a major understatement. By the time I selected what I wanted, the line had shrunk, in part because a second clerk had opened another checkout location. The woman who completed my transaction noted that she was...

Lou on blip.fm. Lou Pickney's Online Commentary. June 2, 2015. There is a term in the pro wrestling business called a lucky hardway. A phrase for when a wrestler accidentally gets busted open during a match. And in an era where blading or gigging by wrestlers, intentionally cutting themselves open on their forehead to elicit emotion from the crowd, is being frowned upon more than ever, it's typically the only time you see blood in a match anymore. Last night, for the first time literally in years, I logged into my account. What I found surprised me.
