A Personal View of the NVR: Hidden Gems
http://nene-valley.blogspot.com/2012/03/hidden-gems.html
Thursday, 8 March 2012. Due to a house move and work commitments, visiting NVR/wagon restoration has had to be put on the back burner for the last few weeks – hence the lack of updates recently. I hope to resume normal service as soon as possible! First up is P143288, a private-owner ironstone hopper. Its condition is not too bad, although the headstocks (bufferbeams) need dropping out and replacing, plus some other repairs. The livery is not thought to be original to this wagon. This is LMS CCT No.3...

A Personal View of the NVR: February 2012
http://nene-valley.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, 26 February 2012. SNCB 21033: Update 1. Here are a few photos from the Carriage Shed a couple of weeks ago, showing then-current progress on SNCB (Belgian) coach No.21033. The vast majority of the roof has now been sanded back. New metal has now been let into the end of the coach, formed into a compound curve to match the original shape of the roof. I would've liked to have been around when this happened, to see how it was done! Saturday, 18 February 2012. The cold also played havoc with train ru...

Over the last couple of weeks the ventilators have been reinstated on the freshly-painted roof of BR Mk1 SK E25347. Despite appearances these vents are brand new replica items, not repainted originals. The full extent of the roof, showing the large number of vents required per carriage. Saturday, 7 January 2012. A Personal View of the NVR: All Change!
http://nene-valley.blogspot.com/2012/04/all-change.html
Tuesday, 24 April 2012. No railway-based blog would be complete without a railway-based pun - so the title of this post should fulfil the criteria! I am pleased to report that the collection box for the NVR Wagon Group is now up and running, located on the platform at Wansford. Your donation, large or small, would be much appreciated and help make a visible difference to the restoration of our historic wagon fleet. In the meantime, please follow the link to the latest wagon restoration news update:.

A Personal View of the NVR: November 2011
http://nene-valley.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 29 November 2011. Yet More "Foreign Stuff". The tender lining and the Swedish State Railways (SJ) emblems have now been applied to 'B' Class 4-6-0 No.101. I have to say it looks rather smart! 101 basks in glorious November(! Continuing the Swedish theme, last week a Swedish railcar touched down at Wansford - 1958-built SJ Class Y7 No.1212. This was once resident at NVR during the five year period 1984-89, so this is something of a homecoming (sort of). Monday, 21 November 2011. BR Mk1 SK E25347 ...
