In other words.ponderings, contemplations, and reflections from a Marine's wife, a Mom of four, and a middle school teacher. Officially May 1st.when Grandpa says. I'm ashamed to say that I overlooked today's date all day long. I mean, I knew it was May 1st. Even wrote it on my board at school and on two checks I wrote. But I didn't really realize today.until the phone rang this evening. I heard his voice on the other end, and I knew. It meant one thing: my yearly phone call from Grandpa. Ah, Grandpa Russ...

musings: baby sleep secrets
http://heidi-conger.blogspot.com/2012/08/baby-sleep-secrets.html
In other words.ponderings, contemplations, and reflections from a Marine's wife, a Mom of four, and a middle school teacher. I would like to lie and say that I'm extremely tired. Exhausted. The baby wakes every hour during the night, crying all the time. But like I said, that's a lie. If you believed this, then I'd have a reason to sport baggy eyelids and a paper Starbucks cup every morning after dropping the girls off at school. Yes, my newborn baby is sleeping through the night. That is not a lie.

In other words.ponderings, contemplations, and reflections from a Marine's wife, a Mom of four, and a middle school teacher. Mrs Conger's DC Trip Tips. I've lost count of the number of times I've boarded a chartered bus, outnumbered by 8th graders, for a week in Washington, D.C. That being said, I may know a thing or two about what to pack and be ready for. I'll provide my wisdom free of charge :). Definitely use the bathroom before you board the bus to leave. From here to there. We will stop in PA proba...

In other words.ponderings, contemplations, and reflections from a Marine's wife, a Mom of four, and a middle school teacher. Our sign of the times. How does one go from blogging daily to once every 30 or so? Well, we've gone and done it. It's been a project lasting a planned 2 months but actual of 5. Still, it's finally done. Yet here we are. For sale. Wella perfect fixer-uper, actually. This new one, she's a piece of work (strong emphasis on the "work"). She's not the type you'd label "move-in r...My Si...

http://heidi-conger.blogspot.com/2014/03/embarrassed-mortified-and-slightly.html
In other words.ponderings, contemplations, and reflections from a Marine's wife, a Mom of four, and a middle school teacher. Embarrassed, mortified, and slightly flustered. And not just because I teach them. I savor words, enjoying all they have to offer. My brain has to know the meaning of words I encounter. Dictionary.com and I are on a first name basis. Take, for example, "embarrass". I know what it feels like. It feels like humiliation. I know the feeling. Yes, I was one smart little chick. I complet...

In other words.ponderings, contemplations, and reflections from a Marine's wife, a Mom of four, and a middle school teacher. Introverted homebodies, snow days, and happiness. The Blizzard of 2014. Here's hoping that you're the ONLY blizzard in 2014). You've forced our heating system to work on overdrive with your -40 degree windchill. You've brought down some pine tree limbs overladen with snow. You've required hours upon hours of shoveling and digging cars out of the driveway. But, on the flip side.

In other words.ponderings, contemplations, and reflections from a Marine's wife, a Mom of four, and a middle school teacher. January '13 started with hours and days of rain. So much rain that it flooded a lot of our property, garage and all. The Gunny and I spent one Sunday afternoon wading in inches of water in the garage, moving things to pallets and plastic totes. The next day, it all froze, turning Lake Conger in the backyard to an ice skating rink. This May marked my 4th (or 7th? I've honestly lost ...

Or at least.it tends to be when you're 8 months pregnant, and it's fry-an-egg-on-the-sidewalk-hot. 1 - One Step at a Time. To read this book. For this one, it was to teach. Such was the case here with Heartbeat. Annie is the average teenager (if one can say that there is. 3 - All the Broken Pieces. 4 - A Long Walk to Water. I firs...
