Wednesday, 19 December 2012. Passing through some fog up on a mountain somewhere. It was another long walk from the bus stop to the hostel that I'd picked out for myself. Why are the cheapest hostels always so far away from bus stops? That night, we decided to head out for a drink and see a bit of the town. Interestingly, the same streets that seemed so sketchy during the day seemed much more friendly. I thought the opposite was supposed to happen at night, but not here, apparently! No Problem.Sort Of.

Saturday, 29 December 2012. After missing my connection in Nice due to southern France's shoddy train system, I finally arrived in Genoa a few days later than expected. Can you believe that I had to wait around in Nice for a few days? Absolutely terrible.(wink). And while I originally lost the money that I had already put down on the hostel for the first night in Genoa, I ended up finding a better option anyway: an emergency couchsurfing host!
