The Suburban Masquerade: March 2006
http://cynicsgirl.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html
Observations, Obsessions and General Crankiness from a Suburban Pretender. Friday, March 31, 2006. Viewers of The Amazing Race 9 are familiar with the team affectionately known as the " frat boys. Having earned their nickname with their generally juvenile behavior, particularly when it comes to their encounters with the opposite sex. IMHO, though, there's something fishy in Dodge City. The dude pictured on the right (Jeremy? Hey, no anti-homosexual intent here - I'm really. Posted by Cyn @ 9:31 PM. Neith...

Cala's Odd World: February 2006
http://calasoddworld.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 15, 2006. Yesterday was Valentine's Day. As a French teacher, this can be fun. I taught a love poem to my French 1 students and then had the others read crazy, over-the-top love letters that would warrant a restraining order were they to be real. I like it. I showed my new bling off proudly all day today and am still beaming; I am one lucky girl and I love my man. Posted by Cala @ 5:44 PM. Sunday, February 12, 2006. Oh goodness, look at the snow. The Suburban Masquerade: Premature Embellishment
http://cynicsgirl.blogspot.com/2008/11/premature-embellishment.html
Observations, Obsessions and General Crankiness from a Suburban Pretender. Tuesday, November 25, 2008. Let me make my feelings twinkle-light clear: there is no justification for decorating your house with Christmas lights nearly a week before Thanksgiving. Yet, when I drove into my development after work Sunday night I was greeted by a fully-lit, entirely Christmassed-out house flashing me in the most inappropriate (for November 23rd) manner. I operate independently from the Gregorian calendar! In additi...

The Suburban Masquerade: The $150 Pencil
http://cynicsgirl.blogspot.com/2008/12/150-pencil.html
Observations, Obsessions and General Crankiness from a Suburban Pretender. Wednesday, December 31, 2008. She's usually the Girl Who Cries Wolf, but this time her shrieks seemed more than the typical over-exaggeration of a minor pain. In between the screams, we made out "I stepped on something" and "It's bleeding a lot.". The 1/4-inch cut has a grey edge. Graphite. Esteemed Husband finds the weapon wedged in between the back couch cushion and the seat. Pointed upward, with our daughter's name ...I'm prepp...

Cala's Odd World: January 2006
http://calasoddworld.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 16, 2006. Not that this will last, but I thought I would try again to chronicle my life. (everyone else is doing it.) This time, I'll be delving into the rough and tumble of a Central New Jersey existence, one that I occasionally angst over, frequently ponder, and usually find to be a strange destination after looking at the last few years of my life. Posted by Cala @ 8:13 AM. Highland Park, NJ. Some call me a French teacher. I'd like to think that they might be right.

arubberdoor: music politics sports etcetera: What happened on my vacation...
http://arubberdoor.blogspot.com/2006/05/what-happened-on-my-vacation.html
Monday, May 22, 2006. What happened on my vacation. Nothing eventful. Oh yeah - I proposed to Kristen. On Friday night, and she said yes (on a trial basis) ;). Then we went to see a filming of "Decades in Rock" - Elvis Costello with Fiona Apple, Billie Joe Armstrong, and Death Cab for Cutie. Great show that almost brought me to tears when Elvis did Fiona's song I Know. Maybe the single best performance that I've seen. 6:01 PM, May 22, 2006. 8:41 PM, May 22, 2006. 2:56 PM, May 23, 2006. arubberdoor: music politics sports etcetera: What happens when politics get in the way
http://arubberdoor.blogspot.com/2006/06/what-happens-when-politics-get-in-way.html
Wednesday, June 07, 2006. What happens when politics get in the way. I've been meaning to post about the bill that was defeated today trying to pass a constitutional amendment on marriage. I don't even want to talk about the validity of this, although I wonder all the time why conservatives are so worried about what other people do in their bedrooms? I mean isn't the over 50% divorce rate or all the fatherless children growing up more of a threat to the American family? Oh, maybe that's it. after bei...

arubberdoor: music politics sports etcetera: Those damn hippies!
http://arubberdoor.blogspot.com/2006/05/those-damn-hippies.html
Thursday, May 18, 2006. The end of Amazing Race 9 wasn't as tense as the Amazing Race 7 end but it was still entertaining. My prediction of the frat boys was off but the hippies deserved to win - I love the brain teasing end rewarding brains over brawn. I would love CBS to do an Amazing Race reunion after every season end - the same way Survivor does. Still too many finales to go. Anyway, nice to see the nice guys (at least they were edited as being nice! 12:25 PM, May 18, 2006. 7:33 PM, May 18, 2006.

http://arubberdoor.blogspot.com/2006/06/just-after-i-proposed.html
Monday, June 05, 2006. Just after I proposed. Just after I proposed. Originally uploaded by speener. A friend asked me for a pic. Here's a pic. I had just proposed - hence the deer in the headlight look on both of our faces. Awwww, you guys don't look like deer in headlights! What a lovely picture. Congrats to you two - I bet you'll have a heckuva fun wedding! 7:03 PM, June 05, 2006. My strange visualizations aside, what I mean to say is that the picture exudes a wonderful so-happy-we're-in-love vibe.
