Updates on life, sewing, family. Tuesday, September 14. Isn't September just the best time of year? It's cool in the morning (at 5:30 am, when my body INSISTS on waking), and then it morphs into a crisp afternoon - perfect for walking the boys along the river. This is the same niece that wants to sew - she's clearly a crafty girl! S has a conference in Calgary next week, so Friday we head east. I hope to take lots of photos, and visit many quilt stores along the way. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Goat - A ...

Updates on life, sewing, family. Thursday, August 9. If I could lift 5000 lbs. I would be in the Olympics. Or be my husband. We had a whack of trees taken down earlier this year, and their carcasses have been reclining in the yard. Yesterday, S loaded them in the trailer and hauled them over to a 'guy' who will mill them for us, so we have siding for the (offending) pump house. When it's fit and ready to be sided, of course. And finally, one of our favourite driftwood gathering beaches. Tuesday, August 7.

Updates on life, sewing, family. Tuesday, June 8. Today I am trying to visualize myself with no hair. Two weeks exactly after chemo my hair is starting to shed. Just a few to start, but it's getting more today. Even the wind is taking it away. What's the big deal with hair anyhow - we start off bald, and many women have less and less hair as they age. I just did it early and hopefully temporarily. I've called the hairdresser, so it's my decision when I lose it all, not the drugs calling the shots. I live...

smazoochie: November 2014
http://smazoochie.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 30, 2014. When our friends had their first child, a daughter, I thought about making her a quilt, but Life intruded and it didn't happen. Six (! Years later, they have had their second child, a son. Since this seems to be my Year to Make Quilts, I thought I would make the boy a quilt. And, well, I can't give the baby a quilt and not give big sister one, also. Right? So, two quick, cute quilts! Add lots of white! Sunday, November 23, 2014. Dorothy is a simple 16-patch - half Kaffe Fassett.

Monday, August 31, 2015. My finished quilts kicked it up a notch - from 1 to 7! A mini and a lap-sized, made with on-hand parts were shipped to new owners before I made photos. Here's one in its new home. A big quilty hug to you, Mrs. O'Quilts. I tied the block corners. The Pop Art nail polish bottles are done - quick and cute. And a jelly roll race - not completely done, binding is on and hand-sewing is in progress. Then there is my Quilt of Shame. I am hanging my head. My reason - not my excuse! As I e...

smazoochie: March 2015
http://smazoochie.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 29, 2015. I found this little lap-sized quilt on Etsy and quickly snapped it up. It's from the 1960s, one of the decades in which not many quilts were made. The pattern is a simple rail fence. But the fabrics! Besides being bright, most of the prints have a woven texture. I think it is lots of fun and very groovy! Monday, March 23, 2015. Spring on the Gulf Coast. Fabric ones, of course, gifts for 2 friends. Made from this pattern. You are always *my* Best of Show. xxx. Monday, March 09, 2015.

smazoochie: December 2014
http://smazoochie.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 31, 2014. So looking back, I guess I had kind of a good year. 16 finished quilts - there were even a few small ones that I didn't share. Looking at the mosaic, first thing I notice is - What a lot of SQUARES! I don't know how that happened, normally, my go-to shape is triangles, but apparently 2014 was smazoochie's year for squares! I looked up the goals. I made for the year back in January - how did I do? Not so much. That is the top of my list again this year. See you next year!
