The Nichols Family: 32 Weeks Pregnant
http://johnandamandanichols.blogspot.com/2010/04/32-weeks-pregnant.html
Friday, April 2, 2010. Well, I'm actually almost 33 now. :D I can not believe how quickly this pregnancy is flying by! I'm still going to the gym! Which leads me to some good news! At 20 weeks I was diagnosed with a low lying placenta (marginal placenta previa). In most pregnancies as the uterus grows the placenta moves up and away from the cervix. The good news is that I had an ultrasound on Tuesday of this week and everything looks good! At 28 weeks I measured 28 weeks, but at my 30 week appointment I ...

The Nichols Family: May 2004
http://johnandamandanichols.blogspot.com/2004_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, May 30, 2004. I slept in the morning of our wedding. something I didn't think I'd be able to do, but I was so exhausted! I got up and showered and threw on some pj pants and a t-shirt and headed over to Nana's house for my bridesmaid's luncheon! The hair and make-up ladies met us there and did the bridesmaids hair and make-up for me and those who wanted to have theirs done. It was so much fun! I LOVED my bridesmaid's luncheon! I couldn't believe this was THE DAY! Finally I went down to the front ...

The Nichols Family: August 2004
http://johnandamandanichols.blogspot.com/2004_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 16, 2004. A Bad day at work. Most of you know this story. The story of August 16, 2004. I thought I would divide this in to two stories: John's account and Amanda's account of the events of that day. At almost 10pm that night my phone rang. It was the call that every army wife fears most. "Mrs. Nichols, this is LT Nelson with the rear detachment. I am calling to inform you that your husband was injured in an ambush in Iraq today.". All I can say about that day is that the Lord is an awesom...

http://firstgradesomethings.blogspot.com/2011/11/october-2011.html
Tales of First Grade Somethings. Sunday, November 13, 2011. October was a blast! We stayed super busy at school becoming better readers and mathematicians! We have been learning to read words with long vowels and sneaky e. We've also been learning our math facts! We learned all about fire safety and even enjoyed a visit with local firefighters. They told us how they get dressed so quickly for an emergency, showed us their special tools, and even let us sit in their fire truck! About Our Father's Business.

The rest of the mornings during the week, we practice our phonics, spelling, grammar, and comprehension skills. We also have centers. During centers I meet with my small reading groups. I just love to meet with these small groups because it really gives me a chance to get to know each student better! Friday, August 20, 2010. We used M...

Tales of First Grade Somethings. Tuesday, May 25, 2010. Project USA has to be one of my top three FAVORITE activities in 1st grade. I admit that I was hesitant to bother with it a few years ago, but I thought I would at least give it a try, and I totally fell in love with it! Each student was assigned a landmark to research. A project was completed about the landmark and much practice was put into rehearsing songs, facts, and perfect timing! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). About Our Father's Business. By God...

Tales of First Grade Somethings: September 2011
http://firstgradesomethings.blogspot.com/2011/10/september-2011.html
Tales of First Grade Somethings. Monday, October 10, 2011. Each morning we begin our day with our Morning Warm-Up. After reading and discussing the Warm-Up, students find certain words and get to circle those words on the board. In order to take a test, students must prepare their desk for a test. This means that their craftbox goes under their chair and their office goes around their test paper. Thanks to everyone who sent items for our apple tasting! Apples can even make math more fun! We read about th...

Tales of First Grade Somethings. Monday, December 20, 2010. This week we reviewed the content we learned from our unit 2 Reading Street book. We took our unit 2 test on the computer, and every single student earned an A! I am so very proud of this class! They are very hard workers! We also read numerous Jan Brett books and completed activities related to her books. We had our class holiday party on Friday, and the students had a wonderful time! Tales of First Grade Somethings: February 2011
http://firstgradesomethings.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Tales of First Grade Somethings. Sunday, February 27, 2011. This week we began unit 4 of Reading Street. We read Mama’s Birthday Present, about a little boy trying to plan the perfect surprise party for his Mama. The characters in the story are Hispanic, so we were able to broaden our horizons while learning about another culture. We read about buenuellos, cascarones, and piñatas. On Friday afternoon we enjoyed American buenuellos (doughnut holes) and a fruit drink. We then practiced writing adjectives.
