Sleeping in the Forest. I thought the earth remembered me, she took me back so tenderly, arranging her dark skirts, her pockets full of lichens and seeds. – Mary Oliver. In Need of an Epiphany. August 10, 2010 in academia. I also have a small research project that is related to the dissertation which I am suppose to be getting done for a regional conference in September…problem…the project proposal is stuck somewhere in the office for the protection of human subjects. clashing hats: Here I am
http://clashinghats.blogspot.com/2008/12/here-i-am.html
I need fresh things. Sunday, December 28, 2008. Yeah, so I don't know what's going on with me and the blogging of late.I just don't seem to have much to say. There's plenty of drama, but I seem to have made a move away from using this as a tell-all space. My feelings of self-consciousness have finally won out. I have none. (And I don't say this in an embittered kind of way.I just don't feel it.I'm okay.) Though Christmas Day at my mother's was surprisingly nice. A fun Christmas dinner. It definitely sound...

clashing hats: September 2008
http://clashinghats.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
I need fresh things. Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Are all I can manage. I am so tired of working 12-hour days every day and feeling like I'm running around breathless for most of that time. I am having fantasies about quitting. All of the incidents of last week aren't helping. I'm doing another round of the Academic Writing Club and it's working the wrong way on me. Quite the opposite of my success with it last time. I heart my physiotherapist. I first went to him two weeks ago. He's a sports phy...It's ...

clashing hats: January 2009
http://clashinghats.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
I need fresh things. Tuesday, January 13, 2009. Surgery on Thursday went well.turned out to be endometriosis. Whole ovary and fallopian tube removed, which they were trying to avoid. I'm really not bothered by this - no need for concern/condolences. Private room in hospital was a lovely treat. Morphine was not my favourite. Have just been, obviously, in recovery mode. (This was a laparotomy, not a laparascopy). My friend A is arriving on Thursday. Tuesday, January 13, 2009. Links to this post.

I need fresh things. Thursday, October 30, 2008. You know what, student whose. I am currently reading? If you are going to plagiarize gigantic swathes of your. Choosing something other than Sparknotes' fully googlable online guide to the novel might be a good idea. I am so done. Thursday, October 30, 2008. Sending warm and fuzzy clouds of sympathy your way. Take down time. I can't believe a student would be so dumb as to to that in a THESIS. I hope you're doing well otherwise. Yes, profoundly dumb. The t...

clashing hats: End-of-year meme
http://clashinghats.blogspot.com/2008/12/end-of-year-meme.html
I need fresh things. Monday, December 29, 2008. Skipped this last year, but seeing it at Dr. Crazy's. Reminded me of its value. 1 What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before? Put a dog to sleep. Joined Facebook (like, yesterday). Was stung by a wasp (and had complications). 2 Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? 3 Did anyone close to you give birth? 4 Did anyone close to you die? My beloved dog, Mr. Kasper. 5 What countries did you visit? Oh boy, did I?

clashing hats: Bye.
http://clashinghats.blogspot.com/2009/02/bye.html
I need fresh things. Tuesday, February 10, 2009. Hi, all. I know I've been gone for a month. I know I'm terrible for not responding to any of the lovely awards some of you gave me right around the time I disappeared from here. I'm sorry. And thank you. I've been doing just fine. I'm now almost five weeks past my surgery and feeling essentially back to normal. I've been working away at my research the last couple of weeks - getting an article ready to send out for publication. Tuesday, February 10, 2009.

Musings of a Guy Drinking Milk: Wouldn't a Caveman's Writer's Block Be the Thing He Writes On?
http://guydrinkingmilk.blogspot.com/2008/07/wouldnt-cavemans-writers-block-be-thing.html
Friday, July 18, 2008. Wouldn't a Caveman's Writer's Block Be the Thing He Writes On? Theses. Oh well. A pencil and a stack of papers in hand, I can at least do some of my work outside, although realistically, the closest it sees to outside is the bus, as that is still a favourite place of mine to do work. See here. Hoisted by my own petard, eh. I guess that is what happens when you put this stuff publicly online. Oh Reed, you crack me up with the way you position your thoughts! Who doesn’t love roses: December 2007
http://asmallgreenangel.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Who doesn’t love roses. And who doesn’t love the lilies of the black ponds floating like flocks of tiny swans, and of course, the flaming trumpet vine where the hummingbird comes like a small green angel -Mary Oliver. Monday, December 17, 2007. Obviously I'm way behind in my You Tube watching. Is this kind of "reality" video appealing because these days it's so much of what we watch is over-produced? Is this an appeal to "reality" and/or "authenticity"? Is there a name for this phenomenon/style? Instead, ...
