Finally! A Captive Audience: Christmas 2014
http://acaptiveaudience.blogspot.com/2014/12/christmas-2014.html
Thursday, December 25, 2014. We did try to make the house look as festive as possible- we hung up the stockings at the new house (only to rush to the house at 10pm on Christmas Eve to retrieve them so that Santa could fill them while we slept). Yes, that's trim being painted in the foreground). My office doesn't have any windows, so I left the cactus out in the conference room, along with a jasmine plant that Santa was going to bring me. I came home, swearing like a sailor. I decided that we were get...

Finally! A Captive Audience: The Tough Mudder
http://acaptiveaudience.blogspot.com/2012/10/the-tough-mudder.html
Monday, October 22, 2012. In a fit of insanity (I am prone to those), I decided to do The Tough Mudder. I committed to it months and months ago with a whole bunch of my friends. I've been doing my best to train for it for quite a long time- kickboxing a couple times a week, weight lifting a couple times a week, and running several times a week (still hate running, for anyone curious). Race day came though, and I was the usual weight. -sigh-. To get into the starting pen, we had to jump a wall. The Electr...

Finally! A Captive Audience: January 2014
http://acaptiveaudience.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 31, 2014. In the past, I've always seen the coming of winter as the end of outdoor adventures outside of sledding until spring came. I still am refusing to run in the snow. A couple reasons: It sounds even WORSE than running in heat, the air quality is so bad that I think I'd be poisoning myself and lastly, I'm afraid of the trail not being groomed. We signed S and Z up for Jr Jazz Basketball through our city's rec department. It's really a great deal- we pay around $50 per kid, and t...

Finally! A Captive Audience: October 2013
http://acaptiveaudience.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 27, 2013. I don't post about them as much now, but I'm still the reluctant owner of cows. TBone earned a stay in execution for both of our steers. He's just too small to send to freezer camp this week, as I'd originally planned. I was deeply disappointed, because feeding and watering livestock in the wintertime is not nearly as much fun as it sounds (yes, I fully understand it does not sound like a good time. Trust me, it's not! We got quite a bit of hay (I think around 125ish bales?

Finally! A Captive Audience: ADD Home Improvement
http://acaptiveaudience.blogspot.com/2014/10/add-home-improvement.html
Monday, October 27, 2014. It feels like I have been suffering from ADD (attention deficit disorder) when it comes to fixing up our new house. I am leaving half started projects all over the place. We finished the flooring assignment and then J left on his business trip, leaving me with a shockingly little amount of supervision on home improvement. I swear, my life has become "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie". Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Create your own visitor map! My 365 Photo Project. Travel templ...

Finally! A Captive Audience: Demolition and rebuilding begins
http://acaptiveaudience.blogspot.com/2015/03/demolition-and-rebuilding-begins.html
Wednesday, March 4, 2015. Demolition and rebuilding begins. As we started pulling it up, we realized that most of it hadn't been properly set- they'd put the tile directly on subfloor in some places and vinyl flooring in others. Tile should be on cement or cement board. Because of this improper installation, the grout had cracked, and water got underneath. We had to replace subflooring in some places because of mold. Luckily the mold didn't go beyond that. Mold in kitchen floor. Once the cabinets were pr...

Finally! A Captive Audience: July 2014
http://acaptiveaudience.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 2, 2014. Ragnar Wasatch Back 2014- It will be fun! If you know me at all, you know that I do not like running. I also don't like waiting in lines, traffic, and not going to bed at a decent hour, all of which are critical parts of Ragnar. However, you also probably know that I'm a sucker for a good adventure, and I'll forget what I don't like if you offer up an amazing sounding adventure. After I did the Tough Mudder in 2012. What is Ragnar, exactly? Agreed to it. She said she'd always...

Finally! A Captive Audience: April 2013
http://acaptiveaudience.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Mrs R goes to Washington, or something like that. It could be worse though; my neighbor on the corner will be less than 9 feet from the sidewalk. She is renting and can move when her lease is up. I decided to address city council with my concerns, and I brought a few neighbors along. I woke up yesterday morning, knowing I was on the agenda, and felt really depressed and hopeless about the whole thing. Wednesday, April 3, 2013. If you can't say something nice. J has taken up a v...
