Caramel Apple Jam | Accidentally Cooking

https://accidentallycooking.wordpress.com/2013/10/31/caramel-apple-jam

Documenting my mistakes in the garden, kitchen and pantry. I’ve mentioned Caramel Apple Jam but never posted the recipe myself. I borrowed this recipe from another blog. And made a few minor adaptations for my own needs [1]. This year I’ve made two batches of it, because it was so popular. 55 Cups prepared Apple Sauce. 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice. Vanilla Extract (to taste). Prepare the apple sauce ahead of time. Basically follow the recipe for apple butter. But stop cooking it before it turns brown and gets thick.

Apple Wine | Accidentally Cooking

https://accidentallycooking.wordpress.com/2014/10/18/apple-wine

Documenting my mistakes in the garden, kitchen and pantry. One of my favorite parts of autumn is the fresh apple cider. We’ve been lucky enough to find a local brand of it which we like very much: sweet and mild with just a little tartness and no bitterness. It tastes great but is also has another awesome feature: it contains no preservatives. Since the apple cider we use has very little tartness and has a mild flavor, I decided to add some of that boiled syrup to the mix as well. Add the bulk of the app...

Caramel Apple Wine | Accidentally Cooking

https://accidentallycooking.wordpress.com/2014/11/09/caramel-apple-wine

Documenting my mistakes in the garden, kitchen and pantry. I’ve been making a bunch of fruit wines this year, but most of those are just ways for me to kill time. What I’m really excited about making is hard apple cider and apple wine, and I have a few jugs available to make several batches. I have a gallon batch of apple wine going right now. The regular subscriber (and I suspect there is only one) will notice that this recipe has been heavily influenced by the Caramel Apple Jam. 1/2 Tsp Vanilla Extract.

Honey Apple Wine | Accidentally Cooking

https://accidentallycooking.wordpress.com/2014/11/29/honey-apple-wine

Documenting my mistakes in the garden, kitchen and pantry. Terminology in the realm of homebrew fruit wines starts to get real complicated real quick. My most recent project is a perfect example of this. Fermented apple cider is typically called cider. Though if you get the alcohol content high enough and you don’t carbonate it, the result is probably more accurate to call apple wine. Honey wine is, of course, mead. If you mix apple cider with honey and ferment it, the result is typically called cyser.

Tart Cherry Wine | Accidentally Cooking

https://accidentallycooking.wordpress.com/2014/08/07/tart-cherry-wine

Documenting my mistakes in the garden, kitchen and pantry. Cherries are the first pickable fruit of the season at our local orchard, so when they come in season I rush down there to grab myself a bucket. The wife and kid came too, because it was a beautiful morning and everybody needed a little bit of time out in the sun. Before the supply was picked out and the season was over. 4lbs cherries, stemmed and rinsed [1]. Add the warm syrup to the cherries, along with enough water to bring the total quantity ...

Accidentally by Design — ...it may look messy now, but that's all part of the plan

It may look messy now, but that's all part of the plan. Something for the Young People. January 28, 2015. Lately I’ve been pulling punches. Holding back. Trying to be some sort of bland hot cereal that appeals to everyone. No one likes that. Spicy, at least identifies a tribe. If you are between the ages of 15 and 23, I am going to tell you something that it seems no one else is saying. While I am by no means speaking to every person in that age group, I am addressing a trend. Here’s the deal. Let me jus...

Accidentally Cooking | Documenting my mistakes in the garden, kitchen and pantry

Documenting my mistakes in the garden, kitchen and pantry. Peach Wine In Memoriam. We are gathered here today in remembrance of Peach Wine. We watched her birth and development with loving anticipation, but unfortunately we weren’t able to see her mature into adulthood. She was taken from us too soon, before she could even be bottled. I’ll definitely do another batch this year, as soon as the early peaches come in at the orchard I’ll snatch up a bunch and start another batch of wine with them...Yes, that...

Adventures of a Suburban Cowgirl

Adventures of a Suburban Cowgirl. Observations and ponderings from a former party girl turned weekend horse wrangler. Wednesday, May 25, 2011. The Pitter Patter of Tiny Hooves. I suppose it was only a matter of time. We have now added another equine member to our family. Through the help of a friend, I was able to get him for a steal of a deal. He has been very sweet, laid back, and is a super fast learner! He is not quite a year yet, so it will be quite a while before he is ridden. Chuck Wagon, revisited.
