THE ART OF PAINTING ON SILK. Silk painting is an ancient art dating back to 2600 bc in China. There is no dip dyeing involved. All my pieces are painted with watercolor brushes. Since the dye medium is transparent "mistakes" cannot be painted over. I use a 10 or 12 mommie (weight of silk) chinese silk habotai as my canvas. The Georgia Microscopical Society (GMS) is a not for profit (501C) organization of people who use optical and electron microscopes for work, for pleasure, and for instruction. Our membership of approximately 70 individual and corporate members includes chemists, forensic scientists, photographers, biologists, teachers, geologists, students and interested laypersons. Meetings are held at various locations, mostly in the Atlanta area, and focus on sharing developments and experiences.
