Accounting For All My Blessings

Accounting For All My Blessings. Monday, August 17, 2015. Seems strange to be baking with apples and cinnamon when we're. Still experiencing triple digit temperature days, but things ripen early in California! If you have a food processor, use it to shred the apples. If not, an ordinary cheese grater will work! The apples add just a slight crunch to the waffle. 3 teaspoons baking powder. 3 eggs, separated. 1 3/4 cups milk. 4 tablespoons butter, melted. 3 apples, shredded. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Accounting For All My Blessings: Nectarine Blueberry Crisp

http://www.accountingforallmyblessings.blogspot.com/2015/07/nectarine-blueberry-crisp.html

Accounting For All My Blessings. Thursday, July 30, 2015. In anticipation of these trips I also do some make-ahead cooking or baking. A few days before our trip I made a peach raspberry crisp. And top with the previously-made topping. It took very little time and I had minimal kitchen clean up. Again, why, oh why, don't I do this on a regular basis? 2 pounds nectarines, sliced. 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen). 2 tablespoons orange juice. 1/4 cup brown sugar. 1/2 cup quick-cooking oatmeal. Preheat ove...

Accounting For All My Blessings: August 2015

Accounting For All My Blessings. Saturday, August 29, 2015. I've been on the lookout for an old wheelbarrow for a few years now. I've browsed through garage sales, antiques stores, Craigslist sites. I've had my Hubby looking along the side of the roads and garage sales as he's on his bike rides. Why do I want an old wheelbarrow? But, I did find one and in the least expected place! Who knew my treasure was hiding in my parents' garage? I've planted a yellow lantana in it. Eventually, the bush will spr...

Accounting For All My Blessings: Sunflowers!

http://www.accountingforallmyblessings.blogspot.com/2015/07/sunflowers.html

Accounting For All My Blessings. Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Each morning, after waking up, I head outside with Harley and check out the flower gardens. I hunt (and obliterate) snails, do a little weeding, deadhead flowers, fill up the bird feeders, water the potted plants. It's such a tranquil time of day, so quiet, not hot yet. It's one of my favorite times of the day. July 28, 2015 at 9:00 PM. July 28, 2015 at 10:04 PM. It is very entertaining! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Salmon With Dill Sauce.

Accounting For All My Blessings: Berry Patch Pie

http://www.accountingforallmyblessings.blogspot.com/2015/08/berry-patch-pie.html

Accounting For All My Blessings. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. I debated about doing this blog post, the pie didn't thicken as much as I had hoped and my pictures are lousy. But the pie was soooooooo good, I just had to share! Well, my Hubbers, myself, and a friend ate two pieces. Before I called our next door neighbors over to finish it off! I will use 1/3 cup. Pastry for single-crust pie (9 inches). 1/3 cup cornstarch (see note above). 2 cups halved fresh strawberries. 1 1/2 cups fresh raspberries. Meanwhi...

Taste the Rainbow: April 2014

2 cups of chopped or sliced vegetables (kept. 1 T olive oil. 2 cloves of garlic, minced. 1/2 jalapeno, diced finely. 2 compari tomatoes, or 1 medium tomato, cored and diced. 1/2 cup cooked white or brown rice. 1 tsp of kosher salt. 1/2 tsp. of black pepper. My favorite mix of vegetables for this dish are red pepper, mushrooms, pea pods, onion and zucchini. By the way, this is a very low calorie dinner. But, by no means does it taste low calorie. Does it look like you'll be deprived? Links to this post.

You say Tabbouleh, I say Taboule. I found a recipe with a boxed mix and decided to try it. So I bought a box of Near East brand and followed the directions on the box (so easy), and while it sat in my fridge for a half hour, I chopped the veggies and made the dressing. 1 box Near East. Taboule mix (5.25 oz). 2 cups finely chopped fresh parsley (about 1 bunch). 1 cup finely chopped fresh mint (about 1 bunch). 1 1/2 cups finely chopped green onions (about 1 bunch). Lemons, juiced * I used 3 lemons, juiced.

Cranberry sauce with Vodka, Cointreau and lime. Cosmo Cranberry Compote. I love Thanksgiving. I mean what's not to love? Family and friends all enjoying a leisurely meal together, which I don't know about your family, but in mine, doesn't happen often enough. So when we can all be together, it's a very special day for me. I also take time for special kinds of extra dishes, that I wouldn't normally serve on ordinary times. So if you want to change up your kind of boring cranberry sauce this year? Links to...

Boston's Freedom Trail and historic North End. There are over 100 restaurants in the North End, in just 2 square miles. Most are quaint and small, but have fabulous food. The pictures I took are just a sampling of what you will find in this historic part of Boston. Here's some pictures I took. Well, this is one that our Tour guide took in front of Paul Revere's House. You can no longer go inside, but it's a beautiful house even from the outside. This picture below is not a full view of the Old North Chur...

Thai Carrot, Ginger, Apple and Cilantro soup. I belong to a board named chowhound.com and get many tips about restaurants, recipes and food in general. If you haven't heard of it, just google it. This recipe was submitted by juju, who got it from a cafetaria. It's her favorite carrot recipe. I needed a soup for work this week and made this little gem over the weekend. It caught my eye because I love anything with Thai flavors. Thai carrot ginger soup:. 3 lbs young carrots, peeled and rough chopped. Altho...

Edamame Guacamole A delicious accident. I happened upon this lovely addition to my guacamole quite by accident. I was having a friend over for pizza and a movie. And then at the last minute, it ended up being three friends. Well impromptu dinners are fine and easy for me, but with homemade pizza? How do you stretch dinner when you only were planning on making one pizza? So I thought of serving a couple of appetizers. Easy peasy, right? Here is the recipe:. 1 large ripe avocado. 1 teaspoon of kosher salt.

Chocolate cake with Creamy Peanut Butter frosting. A friend's birthday inspired this dessert. She turns 60 today and loves chocolate. She also loves peanut butter. So I thought this combination would do nicely as a cake to celebrate her milestone. But for the frosting, here is the simple recipe. 1 stick of butter. 1 cup of peanut butter. 2 cups of confectioner's sugar. 1/4 cup cream (I used almond milk). Cream all together in a mixer. Easy and a great spreadable frosting. Recipe for cake, linked here.

Quinoa with black beans, corn and cilantro. I've been a fan of Southwestern flavors forever! Cumin, cilantro, black beans are some of my favorite ingredients. But, I haven't done much with quinoa. Oh I know, everyone jumped on the bandwagon long ago, touting it's a healthier alternative to rice. But, I cooked it once a long time ago and it really didn't make me swoon, not the way that rice or pasta does. This is an easy weeknight dinner that is healthy and delicious! Here is a link to the original recipe:.

A special weeknight dinner. I don't usually cook a meal like this on a weeknight, nor have I cooked like this all summer. But summer has come to an end. And as sad as I am about that, I have accepted it as I do each Fall here in New England. It's inevitable I suppose. So onward and upward we go into our cool weather cooking. However, dessert was the piece de resistance. and yet so simple. Take a parfait glass and put a teaspoon of crushed oreos. Scoop one scoop of ice cream in glass. Add another ...But I...
