Moffet Images: Focus practice and 8 fps
http://blogger.moffetimages.com/2014/08/focus-practice-and-8-fps.html
Sunday, August 3, 2014. Focus practice and 8 fps. Swinging a camera lens around accurately can take practice. Doing it while trying to focus on a fast moving bird takes even more practice. This tern was shot at Bolsa Chica reserve in Huntington Beach, a very nice tidal marsh that used to be an oil drilling field. There are a couple of things I do to shoot this type of shot:. 1 - autofocus is set by the back button only, not the main shutter button. 3 - 8 frames per second. Posted by Brian Moffet.

Wednesday, August 4, 2010. Manual mode with auto-ISO. It actually works fairly well. I spent a week at AirVenture. Learning about new airplanes, light sport aircraft, and doing a lot of photography. I took over 3400 photos, and have to now sort them. Handle the ISO worked surprising well. If you want to practice this, see if you can attend a seminar by one of the professionals. I went to listen to Paul Bowen. A very entertaining and enlightening speaker. Posted by Brian Moffet. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Friday, January 24, 2014. A fair number people look at photos like this one and ask why the rays of the sun are at an angle. Their not actually, they rays of the sun are very parallel this far away from the sun. Understanding light and how it looks allows me to get better photographs. That and pure chance. Trees eclipsing the sun at Lake Merced. Posted by Brian Moffet. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Secret Beach Sunset 3. Naturography – Nature Photography By Mike Spinak.

Monday, November 28, 2011. Fractal leaves, iPhone challenge Day 54. This was taken pointing the iPhone straight up, with HDR turned on. The patterns in the branches remind me of some of the details in Julia and Mandelbrot sets. Posted by Brian Moffet. Sunday, November 27, 2011. Moffet Images: water in the air.
http://blogger.moffetimages.com/2012/11/water-in-air.html
Saturday, November 24, 2012. Water in the air. I fly a 1946 Stinson 108, also called a Voyager. It's fairly good for taking aerial photos, and I have been flying between Petaluma and Watsonville recently. However, I am now experience what water in the air will do to photos. A polarizer might help, I'll have to try that some time. Posted by Brian Moffet. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Secret Beach Sunset 3. Saturday, September 25, 2010. Had gone to shoot birds. But the fog came in. I was traveling light so I had only brought my Canon 100-400. Mm lens, and didn't have anything shorter. So, I started playing with the fog depth, where the fog would change how it affects the image as you get further away. In this particular case, the fog also changed thickness even from left to right. It was moving slowly in bunches, causing some interesting patterns. This was take at North Lake, Golden Gate Park. In it, Rick S...

Monday, May 30, 2011. Not finding what you were looking for. At Stow Lake, in San Francisco, there are a large number of birds that are around during the year. Red-tailed Hawks, Red-Shouldered Hawks, Great Blue Herons, Cormorants, and a lot more. Onto the Canon 100-400. Mm lens, and proceeded to hope for a quiet enough time to take a good shot. I use a Canon 7D. Posted by Brian Moffet. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Secret Beach Sunset 3. Print of the Month. I have a Web Site.
