Monday, September 7, 2009. I am a trainee SCP at Manchester Heart Centre. We are reviewing harvest wound site post-op care. The current practice is to reduce the bandages on the leg 24 hours post op. However, some of our surgeons now wish to keep them on for 2 days as they are concerned that systemic coagulopathies contribute towards SSI’s. Our centre is changing practice from leaving crepe bandages on 24 hours post-op to 48 hours post-op. I cannot find any evidence to support this change.
